Does this mean Weekend Update is going to have three anchors like they did in season seven with Mary Gross, Brian Doyle-Murray and Christine Ebersole (though that one wasn't very funny or memorable, outside of the commentaries done by Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo. Sherman, Che, and Jost, however, would be)?

@@josephthomas2226 I've noticed a lot of SNL cast members haven't gotten a lot of screen time lately. They stick with Heidi Gardner, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, and Marcello Hernandez, while I don't think I've seen Punkie Johnson or James Austin Johnson AT ALL this season or last season.

@@TheLordOfNothing JA Johnson is on a lot, but nearly always n character disguises (Trump especially). Since she started, Punkie has never established herself - nothing memorable, no recurring characters. I know this is terrible, but I wonder if they are afraid to fire her because she is a lesbian of color. To be fair, Heidi, Kenan, Ego (and Mikey Day) deserve to be on the show a lot. They are the 4 best who remain. But Molly K has also done absolutely nothing, and it's possible she also was a quota hire (first non-binary cast member.) But I have nothing against any of them - I hope they all do well.

What’s really strange is that when I thought about it after she said it, I never realized that the show mostly airs on Sunday morning! Yes, the first half hour is on Saturday night but the bulk of the show does actually air on Sunday morning. Never thought of that before until she brought it up. LOL

On the whole, SNL functions in a format that is quickly losing relevance and the show is mostly unfunny in my opinion. That being said, I don't know why an attack on my sense of humor was relevant. Just post a separate comment or keep these kinds of opinions between you and your friends.

These year’s newbies are the greatest lot of new hires in a LONG while. They’ve brought a ton of new life to the cast and you can tell. Keep it up y’all! ♥️

I think they're making more of a point to use what waz funny from their rehearsals or pre-snl stand up routines early in the season. Both the robot stand up and the one word make up a song character were from that actor's stand up routine. The same may be true of this bit with Sherman.

In all honesty, from the jump, I thought this was going to tank. Proud to say I was wrong. This was funny as hell, and I can’t wait to see more from Sarah. Wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up behind the Weekend Update desk down the road.

Sarah Sherman would make a great live-action Vaneloppe von Schweetz. She's got it all: the clothes, ❤💚💞💜 the black hair, the funny voice/mannerisms and especially, the quirky personality. 🤣 😁😂

Wonderful throughout, brilliant first update spot, but starting at 2:30... *chef's kiss* You can see her feeling the crowd's energy, knowing that she's got them, got Che, got us all, in the palm of her hand. And then she brings it home with a flourish at 2:35, with her flawlessly executed, expertly timed delivery. Love seeing that moment for the new kids, when it happens. Few compare to Kate McKinnon absolutely killing it as Ann Romney in her rookie season. I'll never forget that moment, as it was the night I fell in love with Kate. Excited to see what Sarah will continue to bring to the show for the rest of the season, and hopefully well beyond.
