I love your roadside garden. I would continue it down around the property, removing the raised beds. I bet you get lots of people slowing down driving around your property, looking at everything. My fav thing about your place is that adorable butter yellow cottage. It’s so precious snuggled into the garden.❤

The one long raised bed is perched on top of pure rock so that one would need to stay but I sure can plant in front of it to hide it and plant in it. I just need to extend my irrigation lines. As long as I add plants that will do well with little effort then it will work great. Instead of Primrose Cottage I should've named her Buttercup Cottage.

You have encouraged me to create a rose garden. I now have 3 roses! Earth Angel, Black Ice (not as deep red as I thought it would be), and Cherry Parfait (white with red edges). I LOVE all your roses!
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse

I had Cherry Parfait and it is a great one, it was in an area that got mostly shade and it still bloomed and bloomed. We moved for a year and it was neglected and when we moved back it had died. If I spot it again I will for sure get it to add back to my garden, no scent but it bloomed like crazy. I have an Earth Angel from a cutting and I can't wait for it to grow larger. I am so glad you are going to dive in and give a rose garden a try. As you can tell I do not only have roses in that garden but I move other plants out if I need to add one more rose. 😁

I have an Earth Angel. I love it. The blooms are divine. The smell is just wonderful. It has the prettiest blooms. I just love it. I bought it because it's beautiful but also because I call my granddaughter, Angel Baby. I saw the Earth Angel rose and I thought okay, There is a rose for her. I am working on getting roses in my garden with the names of each one of my family members.The next rose I'm buying is called Karen Blixen. It is a rose named after the woman in the movie Out of Africa. My favorite movie, based on a true story. This rose was developed for her. My sister's name is Karen so i'm getting that one next. I love your weekly tours. I love seeing your garden. It's just beautiful, rose alley. Oh my goodness, gorgeous secret cottage garden, every one of them beautiful!❤❤

Yes! My Texas zone 8a is extremely different than your zone 8b, or zone 8 in BC, Canada, or zone 8 in England. I rarely get snow, and if I do it never lasts more than a day or two. We average about 30 inches of rain a year, with most years being much less than that and we get summer triple digit temps that last for up to 2 months when we get almost zero rain (with this year being an exceptional year, thankfully, when we've gotten more rain and lower temps than normal). We get lots of high winds and lots of dry days and native trees only get to maybe 30ft tall so it is more arid here. We have different pests too. I'd sure trade you our annual plague of millions of grasshoppers, which eat everything, for your gophers and slugs!!
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Ай бұрын
Thank you for putting things into perspective. I would probably prefer my pests to yours anyday and we do have enjoyable summers that are rarely as hot as this week. Yes, the same zone can be dramatically different and only has a slight bearing on your gardening efforts, it only tells you how low of a temperture plants can live through but it does not tell you all the varying conditions, as you stated so perfectly. Those condions can make a huge difference in what will do well in each individuals garden.

Hello there dear flower patch lady, oh ,another lovely tour of the rose cottage garden.i just have to say that i can understand the gophers pam,all the flowers are gorgeous and so many look tempting and delicious 😊. Some of the roses look like cup cakes 😊.im loving your crazy daisy s.i have 4 buds waiting to open, I wonder if you could find a comfortable support for your little tree ready for winter next?,thankyou pam so much for perfectly lovely video again xxlove to you and Rachel, chickens ect,from me and mine. Take care, happy Saturday xx

Supporting the tree would most likely be the best solution and if I prune it back hard in late Fall or early winter if most likely will be fine. Then it would not catch so much snow as to push it over all the way.

😂I seen the Trumpet vine and froze. My MIL had several-one out in the backyard and one next to the house by patio. My FIL had quite the job keeping it in check and they were both Very aggressive with huge trunks. And it was super messy by patio when blossoms fell and the suckers were impossible along the foundation. 😂she asked me back then if I wanted one and I declined😂. Just fare warning. They are beautiful in bloom, they do attract pollinators by the thousands including bees/wasps. The thing about varieties is some are not as strong of growers as originals. Like yarrow, it grows wild here and tough, but the other colored varieties seem weak. I finally got name tags for plants and I failed to wipe the oil off and as I was taking them outside to place I noticed the paint pen wasn’t as permanent as it should be. I suppose I will need to redo them. I remember most of the roses and I think the one that looked neon in our rain filled days is a Peace rose. The pic I took doesn’t do it justice, but boy did it light up. I’m sitting here waiting for the sun, but it’s dreary and rain again Sunday to Wednesday-Big Sigh! And without the sun or wind those mosquitoes are waiting. Everything is a bit depressing this morning. Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers this morning.

Yes, I keep the trumpet vine in a container and I won't put them into the ground as they can be quite the challenge to keep up with. This one I got seeds from a gentleman who had it growing up a porch post and he had no issues with it running or suckering, coming up elsewhere, so I don't know if it is a variety that is well behaved or not but I won't take a chance and keep it in a container. I am so glad you enjoyed the tour.

Oh my I put one in ground and it was awful to get rid of. I had to pour boiling water on roots after cutting it down to the lowest I could. Then I put a handful of epsom salt and did they over and over several times a day for weeks and finally it died off. It was popping up in my lawn and is SO invasive. Watch the pots Pam because if just one seed gets astray in your garden you will find them everywhere! Not worth the effort I will not grow them ever again. My hummingbirds love my Tithona and no risk they are an annual and they love them.

Call the ally garden the "Cottage Lane" or "Secret Laneway Garden". I love Sceptre'd Isle it is one of my favourites along with Eden Red, Eden pretty in Pink and Boscobel. William Morris is another beautiful rose that is so fragrant and pretty. Do you have a problem with Voles? I was sitting in my yard admiring my garden and one just casually walked by as if he owned the garden. My dogs and cat were out and he had no fear at all. They are chewing my gladiolus to bits. I can't use poison so I am trying "Irish spring" bar soap and caster oil spray to see if I can deter the little rodents. Happy Gardening!

My Pretty in Pink Eden ended up being a regular Eden. How well does it grow for you? It is as vigourous as the regular Eden? I don't have William Morris, I need to check it out, I LOVE fragrant roses. I wish you success with the deterrents.

Hi Pam! That yellow verbascum is beautiful 🌼 Question 🙋🏼‍♀️ is your trumpet vine hardy? I was told trumpet vine wouldn't be hardy for me 😢 but your is gorgeous and I've wanted to put one in my son's memorial garden ❤ Trying to beat the heat 🥵 here.... 108 today... 😬 anyway! I'm determined to still get out early and enjoy what I love! Stay Cool!!

Yes, mine is hardy and I keep it in a container so it won't run all over the garden. I grew it from seeds and I do love it. We are only to get to 101 today but that is still so hot. I have another one growing in a pot you are welcome to have. I could meet you somewhere over in Sonora one day I am over that way. If you don't want it, no worries. I grew it from seed too and it should be the same as the one in this video.
