I've had issues pluggin a TRS cable into my Loop pedal in my Guitar Amp effects loop, which is what led me to wonder TRS cables are interchangeable with TS. Thanks

If you're mixing TRS with TS cables it is somewhat a roll of the dice. If you're lucky the connectors line up properly and it works fine. I'd always suggest using the appropriate connectors (TRS for TRS, TS for TS) which will avoid the problems altogether.

Is it good to use a TRS from an AUX SENDS on a mixer to an audio interface input?
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the manufacturer. Check the spec sheet or product website to know if the aux sends are either a balanced or unbalanced. Use the appropriate cable accordingly

its better conect my bass or guitar with a trs cable on my interface? or should i conects just in with a ts mono cable? great video¡¡

Use a regular TS cable. In theory you might be able to use a TRS cable but there won't be any sonic benefit because the output from the instrument is unbalanced. If the design tolerances of the input jacks are of there might be a possibility the cable contacts do not line up properly.

@@Studio2105 thanks for the quick response. Also I was wondering would a 14 foot length trs cable lower my signal quality compared to a shorter length?
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 10 ай бұрын
No. At that length any signal loss is insignificant. A balanced cable can be several hundred feet long before degradation gets noticeable.

Which cable is best for stage performance for instruments ts or trs? And also what happen when we use long ts cable and long trs cable?
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 Жыл бұрын
Q1 : Which cable is best for stage performance? A : Don't get confused. Instrument outputs are almost always 1/4" TS
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 Жыл бұрын
Q2 : Long TS cable vs. long TRS A : A 1/4" TS (unbalanced) suffers from signal loss over long distances and is more susceptible to noise due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). A Balanced TRS cable doesn't suffer from the same problems due to its design and having good common mode rejection ratio. But this doesn't mean that you can swap a TS cable with a TRS cable. The wiring is entirely different as explained in the video.

my concern is my mixer output line..does the left and right signal from the mixer comes out from tip connector? assuming inserted a TS cable to TRS socket of mixer will it short the signal?
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 5 ай бұрын
All mixers output line level. The question is does your mixer have balanced outputs? Most professional mixers do. It is not a problem to use an unbalanced TS cable in place of a balanced TRS but you will lose the benefits which I described in the video

My acoustic preamp pedal has a DI. Can I use XLR TO TRS from the pedal to the acoustic guitar amp?
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 2 жыл бұрын
No. The XLR output is a low-impedance balanced mic-level signal meant for recording or sending to a PA. The amp needs to see a high-impedance unbalanced signal. Depending on your pedal there should be a 1/4" output instead.

Please help. My studio monitor speaker is "KRK Rokit 5 4G" and my audio interface is "Focusrite Scarlet 2i2". What is the best cable to use TS or TRS? If it's TRS, should it be balanced or unbalanced with mono or stereo? I hope you understand my question. Thank you.
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 Жыл бұрын
Your best option would be to use mono balanced TRS cables as these will help reduce EMI/RF noise. If you don't have these available you can still use regular unbalanced TS cables e.g. normal instrument/guitar cables Btw, don't confuse TS/TRS with mono/stereo. Some folks see a TRS connector and immediately assume it's stereo.

@@Studio2105 One last doubt. Please do reply. In my case, "Mono balanced TRS cables" are better than "Stereo balanced TRS cables"? Because I'm searching in amazon and all I could find is "stereo balanced TRS cables" and "balanced mono/unbalanced stereo cables". Is "balanced mono TRS cables" are different than "balanced mono/unbalanced stereo cables"? Or are they same? Which one would be better? Please help. I have a pair of KRK Rokit 5 G4.

The benefit of balanced connections will only be evident when both inputs & outputs are balanced. In yours & most cases it will be perfectly fine to use regular 1/4" TS instrument cables. Only if noise becomes an issue then use D.I boxes

Hi, I have a stereo effects loop(2 inputs and 2 outputs) on my Fender Studio 40 bass amp..I plug in headphones for Stereo)I have a pedal going into the effects loop Neunaber Mk 2(Has 2 inputs and 2 outputs,I Use 4 TS cables etc to get stereo..However the pedal accepts TRS cable for stereo according to the manual.I want to buy a Red Panda Raster pedal that has only one input and one output but they are TRS compliant for stereo etc..I don't know how to cable up everything if I want to put the panda at the end of the signal chain..
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 2 жыл бұрын
You will need to get two pieces of 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TS split Y-cables. One you use to connect from the output of the Neunaber reverb pedal to input of the Raster delay. Then connect that back to the effects return on the amp.
@Studio2105
@Studio2105 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Two 1/4" TS cables from the amp effects send -> Input of the reverb pedal -> Y-cable into the delay pedal -> Y-cable into the effects return. Total 4 cables : 2 x 1/4" TS 2 x 1/4" dual TS into 1/4" stereo TRS
