You might have started leaving him on his own to early. You should start with leaving him in a room on his own for 10 mins and then slowly increase. Then leave the house for 30 mins etc and work up

The only thing that helped with my dog was encouraging him to be comfortable alone while you ARE home. Especially sleeping 😬 once they get comfortable and out of adolescence you get bring them back in the bedroom to sleep. I think some people use crates for that reason because it gives them a space of their own to retreat to for comfort rather than depend on you for comfort. If ur not comfy with crates we bought a giant dog bed and put it in a cozy spot in a space where you can leave them to play and go to the toilet while you head to somewhere else in the house, and pop in whenever. That way when they’re home alone they can relate that feeling to when you are home but just in the other room and know you’re coming back

Personally I found with dogs with separation anxiety that finding a reward system when your not home wether that be some special treats that he gets when you leave. Um not sure if he's crate trained but having a secure space for them ro relax I always found helped. All dogs are different so you might have to try different strategies to see what works for him! Hope this helped xxx

We had the same issue with our little babies barking and whining when we were gone! No matter how many treats, distractions and toys we gave them they wouldn’t stop barking! Our little guy only started getting seperation anxiety when we got our little girl! We ended up getting citronella collars- and they work wonders for the barking! As for the anxiety- leave them in a room for a little while, and then reward them for calming down or not crying. Lots of treats!! Speaking with the vet too would help, they can give direction on whether or not this is something he can be trained out of! Goodluck, but he is beautiful 🤩 Love watching your videos ❤️

Hey i have a cocker spaniel and she also gets separation anxiety I went to my vet about it and it’s super common in the breed. my vet put her on anti depressants and i have found that had really helped her adjust and calm down. i know medicine isn’t always the best solution but it can help with teaching them that’s it’s okay to be alone and they get a LOT less anxious

While my dachshund was a puppy we’d leave him in his crate when going out. He was never in there for more than 2 hours though, most of the time someone was always home! Try long lasting treats when leaving him, such as natural pig ears, fish skins, goats horns, cow hoofs etc. doesn’t sound too lovely but they love them and it keeps more boys entertained! Can get them from places like my pet warehouse or pet barn

With Rufus, because with my dog before we go out and if we're going to be gone for a while we give her a bone and that keeps her occupied and happy until we get back, so that might work with Rufus

My frenchie has separation anxiety too bless him.. Apparently classical music and "chill out music for dogs" (look on KZfaq!) is supposed to be good for relaxing them while your out. Also try some positive reinforcement - a treat when you leave. Avoid big "goodbyes" and leave something out that smells of you (a blanket or dressing gown etc) xx

I decided to crate train my puppy, sometimes it’s easier not to know what’s going on when you’re gone 🙈🫣. We had noise cancelling blankets over the top of his crate so the neighbors wouldn’t get mad. I HIGHLY recommend a snuggle pup, it’s a stuffed animal with a heart beat. I swear mr puppy thought the stuffed animal was his bff. It only took about a week for him to stop whining in his crate.

My mums dog has separation anxiety, whenever she is going out for the day or a few hours, she gives him a ‘complete calm’ chew- they’re from the brand Blackmores! It’s all natural and just calms them down. Putting on the radio helps too, and making sure they have a toy they like to keep them distracted. Hope this helps! ❣️

Hey beautiful girls first thing don’t hose off the wee mat as it leaves a seant and he will go straight to the wee mat and use that all the time . You can buy a defuser you plug in the wall and it calms the dog down you can get it in the pet store it’s similar to the ones people use for cats but for dogs I’ve used it as my dog has anxiety works well ❤

For the most part, he just really needs reassurance that you’re going to come back! There’s been a lot of great suggestions already, so as has already been said, leave him in a room on his own or leave the apartment on his own for a short period, like 5-10 minutes and just practice that throughout the day and week. Increase it a bit every week if he’s going well with it and isn’t getting too uncomfortable. It takes time but gradually you can build up to him being on his own and he will settle and most likely just sleep or go and do his own thing. If he knows he is safe and that you’re going to come back, he will be fine. Puppies also go through little regressive phases in their first few years, and it will seem like they’ve forgotten everything and nothing you’re doing is working. I promise, it isn’t you at all, and that you’re doing great. Consistency really is the most important thing, and interactive toys and treats don’t hurt either 🥰
