That's kind of the whole point of Zappas music too (and Phish too!), so this comment by Dean will only piss off the people that don't understand. This ironically applies to people who actually don't listen to the music and people who don't listen to the music close enough but still want to defend Zappa and Phish to look musically literate because obviously they're some of the most innovative composers of the 20th century and anyone with ears or some musical training can tell you that This proves Deaners a musical genius, he cracked the code. The best music inspires you to go do stuff other than listening to music lol

he's just tired of saying yes....to that excessively asked question...it should be obvious if you listen, no need to even ask, if you know and listen you know. I would be sick of being asked, can't blame him.

Gener has never looked quite the same throughout each and every single year of the band and the clips that they're in. He truly is a shapeshifter. 2003 Gene looks nothing like current day Gene. And 1990 Gene looks nothing like 91 Gene. It's bizarre.

@@ffy0000 Consider that he _was_ an alcoholic, too. He doesn't look as unhealthy here as he did 2 years later, but by the shows in 2000,* he looked tired. Your liver's gotta clean your blood, and exhausting it ain't gonna help. It also doesn't help that a *lot* of American diets are bloody awful; devoid of many vitamins and minerals, and high in grease and overloaded with sugars. _I say that as a fellow Pennsylvanian._ With that said, forget McDonald's. *Edit: I mean the shows from June 2000, at earliest. I tried looking up concerts from earlier, and I couldn't get very good footage from May 2000, but he seemed OK in Mid May 2000?

Heard 'Ocean Man' for the first time a few evenings ago while rocking my way through some strange Web VR game in my Quest, and absolutely fell in love with it. 3 nights later and a few dozen Ween songs, some web-pages and this interview, and Ween is now my favorite band. friends have been at me since the nineties to go and see them. i suppose it was a badge. saying i was cool enough on a ten strip to listen through that kind of heady early experience, i cannot. i could do the Pod highAF, but could not imagine all that energy at a Live Ween show. too many people. now with even a lesser hold on reality i'm kicking myself like few can imagine for still being a Ween virgin. I look at it now, at 44, that if i see the boys before their fucking 60th (both turned 50 this year 2020) i can die and join the Almighty Boognish up inside the great out of the wholly other. there is no comparison. period.

@@MrGageHarrison You can only think that in the most superficial way tho. Even a passing look at what Zappa did and how he did it shows he was anything but a snob who took himself too seriously. He acted the way he did because he didn’t like people very much, but all his choices in the end were about independence and perfection. Can’t really fault him that he was interested in demanding music. He never demanded to be appreciated. Quite the opposite in fact. Ween just didn’t like his style.

To state the obvious, I see the questions being asked as the typical hot button, controversial things to ask them about, which is exactly what no-thinking, lowest common denominator journalism does. "Do you like Zappa? Phish?" "Who is (insert female's name)?" Think of how often people wanted to equate them with Zappa and Phish because people have to put them in a box they can understand. Picked out things in their lyrics to ask them about on camera. It must have been maddening. The authenticity of the fact they're performing this genre is being brought into question in Nashville prior to their performance. It's like the petty details are being sensationalized... and then they completely NAIL the music.
