Has there ever been a band with a weirder story between albums? Weezer has their debut album blow up huge. Instead of following up, Rivers chooses to go to fucking Harvard of all places. But first he has an extremely painful surgery to lengthen his leg. Their bassist starts another band that scores a pretty big hit song. Meanwhile their frontman hobbles around Harvard on a cane and with a giant beard while people wear shirts of his band but don’t recognize him as a member of that band.

Rivers almost always looks like he's on a bad trip.

I was 25 when Pinkerton was released. I distinctly remember listening to this track over and over while learning my way around San Francisco. Now I'm a father, and my daughter is a half-Japanese girl. Not sure what she'll make of this song when she eventually finds it in my music archive.

This is hands down my favorite Weezer song. My friends and I have bonded over Weezer ever since I moved and met them, and we finally got to see them last week and had some of the most fun I've ever had at a concert. We were screaming the lyrics and freaking out every time ANYTHING happened onstage. When they played this song my best friend and I absolutely lost our minds because we weren't expecting it to make the set list. It was such a great experience and Weezer is SO good live. Thank you guys for making great music and bringing me together with some truly amazing people!

i love 2:15 so much and keep replaying it, it works on so many levels. depending on how you read it can be cathartic, depressed, frustrated, or a combination. i also love how its just a break of raw, vulnerable, emotion after a somewhat comedic setup, and the music video showing a long scene of just Rivers singing with a passionately mixed expression is just the cherry on top... GOD i love this band

Discovered weezer during quarantine last summer and Pinkerton and this song in particular literally helped me keep my sanity, so thanks for that I guess rivers.

One of the great things about this song is how silly and laid back it is. That adds so much to the effect of the song. I love it X)

I remember the commercial for this album on MTV. They played the chorus to "El Scorcho". It was catchy, but I didn't hear the whole song until two years later, and realized what I had been missing. I think that is the case for most people, hence the "cult" popularity. This song is beautiful.

So many drunken nights with my friends belting out this song at the top of our lungs. And without fail, we'd mosh during the bridge. Every time.

I remembered this being a flop when it was released and Pinkerton was like a lightning rod for critical backlash. I loved the songs that i had heard on my local alt station back then, this and the good life, and fucking loving them! It wouldn't be until a few years later that i would get a copy of Pinkerton and by then, it was deemed "grossly underrated" and it became cool all of a sudden and I'm thinking, it was always cool! Like me.finally getting to hear the while album years later, maybe others had to have their time pass before truly hearing it. Ugh! now I'm rambling! It's just a great record! That is all!

I really can't understand HOW this album was a flop when it came out! It's so good! I am so glad Weezer didn't let that be the end of them, and so glad that this album finally got the credit it deserves!

These dudes are pros. They came to Des Moines last Saturday for a festival and played the slickest headlining set I've ever seen. They haven't been to Iowa much, so they made sure to play (and just destroy) the hits. They also made a show of the newer stuff including some impressive (Blue Album like) harmonies and a song with Rivers in the background vocally. Over 20 years later and still just killing it. Edit: I really loved how they treated the encore. Stage went dark after they finished a song and they all started to walk off. Crowd started screaming immediately (we had to scream for that) and the band did a quick lap around the stage and got back up on stage for Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly finished with all four standing behind the trap set doing a drum-roll-salute.
