I love how down-to-Earth they all seem; the success has not gone to their heads. They still dress casual, dance around and have fun. They don't need to prove anything to anyone (which is kind of what Pork and Beans is about).

youtubkeeper Weezer's entire image is based on looking like a bunch of nerds. Their lyrics, their garage-band vibe, the fact that they dress like a bunch of high-schoolers... that's the entire point. You think it's all about them not being flashy? "Casual" *IS* their "flashy". It's their costume. It's their style. It's their "thing". Marilyn Manson paints his face and straps on a corset before he goes on stage... Rivers Cuomo ties his sneakers and throws on a hoodie.

+Kevin Walter Haha, OK, I see your point. I'll rephrase/clarify a little: I'm sure they've had pressure at times from record labels, managers, gig promoter, etc. to change, but they've kept the look and sound and done it the way they want. Other bands change (look and sound) when they gain commercial success and they end up losing their loyal fans. Rock on Weezer!

They sure make it seem that way but i think the major reason theve struggle is because the success if the blue album wasnt well known so fastly that made rivers felt pressured after the succes of the album they wouldnt had gone down the road they went in the 2000s

As someone who's seen them probably 10x live, over the last 20+ years, they are awesome live. But I really do think Rivers goes all out when he's in Japan.

RIvers is a very down to earth dude that genuinely cares about people. I was in the official video filmed in Downtown Los Angeles. Me and a friend could not get back home to Van Nuys that night. Rivers himself came out of his own pocket and gave us taxi fare all the way back home. I have nothing but the greatest respect for Rivers Cuomo.

As weird as Pat looks playing guitar, it's pretty wholesome to see him and Scott playing next to each other, considering they're the only members of Weezer who are still friends.

I posted that after reading a Rolling Stone cover story, then I realized it was from 2005 lol. The article quoted Rick Rubin saying that Weezer were the most dysfunctional band he'd ever worked with and that Scott and Pat were the only band members who even remotely liked each other. I highly doubt they're best friends, but I'm sure they get along better now. I suppose it's also kinda weird to ponder about that sort of thing but we

@@flamingcabbage8359 ...I just found and read that same Rolling Stone article from 2005 you mentioned. Very interesting. I had no idea there was so much tension among the band members back then. As someone who is "on the spectrum", I would not be surprised if Rivers was as well. We have a tendency to make others around us uncomfortable, even though its unintentional. I'm sure it would create schisms in a band atmosphere. Cuomo seemed to direct his focus on meditation in 2005, which is better than turning to drugs or other dangerous addictive outlets. I hope he has found the peace he has been searching for.

@@diamonddavemusic watch the interview of Rivers with Dan Harris for the 10% Percent Happier podcast. In that interview, Rivers admitted that by the time Make Believe was in production and that Rolling Stones interview came up, he and the rest of the band wasn’t in good terms, but that nowadays, all of them gets along just fine. Rivers in that interview acknowledged that mediation played a huge role in helping him grow as a person and becoming a better band mate.

Despite what Pitchfork or anyone else says, Weezer was a GREAT band in the 90s and have had their moments ever since. I remain hopeful that they come out with another solid album - Hurley was pretty close.

The acoustic does have distortion or even fuzz on it. Listen closely with headphones. The electric is panned right and the acousic left.
