The fact that they were able to get so many people to showcase the golden age of KZfaq is still amazing.

At the time this was new people might've thought it was cringe, but these days I find it incredibly nostalgic and even kind of touching. This is the *real* KZfaq Rewind special.

Golden Age of KZfaq, no ads, no algorithm, not owned by a corporation, you could upload whatever you found funny. That was it.

Watching this again after many years, for some reason I completely broke down in tears. What a time capsule into my formative years on the internet. I don’t know if it’s a lament of the lost boundless optimism of that era or just nostalgia, but damn. I wept for something lost, for the memories. Feels good to cry but what an interesting catalyst. It’s a masterpiece.

Listening to this 13 years later just hits different. Normally all old songs are nostalgic, yeah yeah, but this particular song just put every trending video in the beginning era of KZfaq into one music video and it is especially emotional now that I'm older and everything is different. This is my childhood right here in one video.

Remember, the guy was made fun of a ton, and even got fired from his job after being one of the first people to go viral. Now he's an internet legend and the lyrics fit so well for him.

Weezer didn't know that they were documenting when the internet was in its prime and was still great.

Imagine if this song was made today, the memes they would use would probably become outdated a few days after the music video was released.

"I don't give a hoot" has been my mantra for the past 13 years. Now I'm a doctor and I run my own healthy ecology business. Thanks, weezer. I listen to this song at least once a week to remind me why I did this.

A lot of people point to the Africa cover as Weezer solidifying themselves in the pop-culture ethos, but I think this is where Weezer won over a massive amount of fans and gained a lot of good will on the internet, which has kept them relevant even as a lot of the band members are entering their mid-50s. This is when KZfaq was still a relatively small and connected platform and was more about making personal and offbeat content over drama videos and high budgeted stuff. Mathew Cullen who directed the video completely understood that Rivers lyrics relate to that kind of crowd and melded them together perfectly. It's such a great love letter to that era and it's one of the major factors that has kept them relevant. The feeling of that outsiderness distilled into a catchy pop song and an awesome video.

This is truly a time capsule of the internet. I mean imagine people like me who never got to experience this culture, and being able to just taking a look at this. It’s amazing to say the least. Makes me wish I could’ve experience a time like this.

2005 - 2008 was a magical time for the internet

No matter how many times I watch this video it puts a smile on my face. I don't know every single reference they make but I know most of them, and it just touches me how they managed to put a time capsule on such a short-lived period. Things move so fast, technology advances so quickly, trends and pop culture change almost as soon as they're created; but it hasn't always been like this, and this video showcases a time when we were kind of right on the border between eras. Or maybe I'm just overly nostalgic because this video is about viral videos from when I was in middle school, and everything looks different in a preteen's memory, but I don't know. Things don't feel the same now as they did then, and I'm just grateful to Weezer for making this video happen, and to all these people for agreeing to be in it and to play up the things that made them go viral, even in the cases where it was stuff that got them massively bullied.

It's weird - when this video first came out I remember rolling my eyes because it just felt like it was cashing in on a bunch of viral trends at the time. It wasn't that cool to see Tay Zonday show up because it felt like it had just happened. Leave Britney Alone and K-Fed were annoying videos that I was happy to see finally die out and suddenly here they were, annoying me again. Watching it now over a decade later, this video hits different. What felt at the time like a lame attempt to be internet-cool is now a nostalgic time capsule that brings me back to better times. I appreciate it in a way that I didn't at the time. Plus it's a pretty great song too.

The song is about accepting yourself and your oddnesses, but at the same time there's an undercurrent about improving yourself. For one thing, there's the guy who starts out falling all over himself, and then a couple of visits later he's fighting off multiple attackers. That other guy can't get a spray bottle to work with Mentos without making a mess of himself, but ends up having a whole orchestra of spewers.
