I wanted to give an update to those that are interested, i am planning to do a second video showing a transformation from vehicle to robot mode, detailing everything you need to know, hidden little features and details many reviewers have no covered, and what you can do to make this Optimus look the best he can be, as well as more size comparisons with more 1/30 scale mpm figures and info about what to get to complete a movie 1 cast all in scale!

Bro......in my opinion that optimus prime is one of the most accurate rempresentation of optimus prime in the movie

Finally an accurate reviewer. I’m also an scale junkie too! I order this black apple figure since it’s the perfect optimus, every detail from the CGI is carried to this mold and the scale is just perfect. I’ve spent hours measuring with pictures and you got it all right. There’s also an upscale Ironhide that matches better than the official MP. So, the only official figures that can be in the collection are the 3 MMP cars

I return almost a year later, and have finally done the mods... and good lord is he beautiful. I ended up discovering something that ends up confirming that this config is what it was meant to be. I removed the set of shelfs, battled to get the new-found parts-forming bits off, the took off the fairly useless tabs, but didn't touch the bit that you carved out for clearance for the one tab. When I finished I proceeded to start putting him back together and initially I had a bad feeling that I was going to have to also shave some of the bit you did for clearance due to it fighting me. Suddenly though, I heard a click. I got looking and realized that in clearing the area enough for the torso chunks to sit down, it allowed for something that was meant to originally keep the top of the torso together to finally get to do its job. He now holds together EXEPTIONALLY well. Thank you for allowing me to get to enjoy this true masterpiece even more, you earned my like.

With those mods he wins over the ROTF/DOTM mold

I just got mine and it's still in the box, but I already want to do this mod. I'll go through the transformation out of the box a couple of times then have to decide if I should go the parts forming route. Excellent video and tips! The designer should have made the red piece thats on top of the hood to fold in to the side instead of folding to the back of the windhield

My brain melted when you said bb prime is only 16 feet tall.. I've just gotten into reviving my collection. My Black Apple prime just came in the mail 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The whole reason I got him was because he's the most accurate of all the bayverse optimus primes in perfect scale. Beautiful figure. Unfortunately I broke the set pin off of one of the smoke stacks during my first transformation. So be very careful with those.. cant wait to fill out that mpm roster. I'll need a second job to support this hobby lol

7:45 You dont need do this. Here are 2 solutions, the first solution is to do like you. The second solution is a bit extreme but it is worth it. At the chest is a straight red plastic folded in. This place you have to cut off the plastic so that the piece is closer to the chest ( 10:41 Somewhat hard to imagine) ==> At first you will fit. And the second thing when you press down, the pin of the door will be stuck on the green piece before the horse ==> The solution is to cut a small piece of plastic is okay (I see the video you seem to have done, something slightly cut incorrect, probably due to another solution). Adding these two things, you will be able to assemble 100% without making a hole like in 7:45. p / s: I think there are a lot of mismatches you should notice. Especially the gun part, I advise you to look carefully and then trim the plastic, the gun has a lot of problems.

i saw the upgrade video first and thought it was literally looked like a shot out of the movie so this will definitely be the purchase to get. second, I didn't think that the 86' scale was right, but then I thought about how small bumblebee was compared to charlie, then bumblebee to prime, and it blew my mind. i was having trouble deciding whether or not to go Studio Series or MPM but now I think I have my answer.

I kinda wanna see Wei Jiang make a Jet powered kit for the Black Apple Optimus Prime. I know Iron Warrior Optimus Prime has one, but I think it be nice to have another for the Black Apple. And just in case what I mean by Jet Power it's the mode Optimus gets in Revenge of the Fallen the one form Dark of the Moon is called Jet Wing.

In the recent year it seems parts for BA prime have finally begun moving or being assembled, so back to looking at this video to see about anything to do. And in particularly, I wonder if this new collection of Primes have made some fixes since then....

Sorry to be a stickler about partsforming, but can you say if trimming the tabs/extra plastic alone would be enough for a relatively better chest? That's the single step I'm not confident I'd want to follow.

There have been leaks of a proper MPM Starscream (not the repaint of leader Starscream from a while ago) circulating around the internet. If the rumors are true, then 3rd party companies are likely to upscale it to be in scale with the other upscaled figures.

Hi! In the video that you demonstrate the removal of the piece so that the chest part is more fitted, the removed part is attached to the rest of the optimus chest part by a small metal pin. My question is about removing that pin. How and what tool did you use to remove this pin? Thanks!

To me, LT02 mpm Optimus and tf dream factory megs and mpm bumblebee actually scale well together because bumblebee is a tiny bit to small compared to the black apple. But LT02 I wish it was just atleast half an inch taller, or the exact same height as unique toys challenger. I’m still gonna get mpm Optimus LT02 if I can but unfortunately I don’t see it on the market anywhere that it is on-sale sadly. That sucks. I wish I could get it.

I am slightly confused with the mod since you talked about your mods side by side with the chinese mod. Does your mod require any permanent alterations to the figure(cutting, removing, or adding pieces) or is that just the chinese mod?

How did you go about snipping the fold in hood hinges? What tool did you use? I really want to do this mod, just not sure how I should go about tackling it.

my scale works with if i get a leader class, i get a deluxe class so it works like this: optimus is leader class ironhide/ratchet will be voyagers and bumblebee deluxe class thats how i like to have my scale with figures

Can you use a nail filer to remove those plastic parts in his chest or do you need a different tool to remove them?

Also with the starscream thing, I’m really trying right now to make the most accurate as possible mpm style starscream. I went with the closest thing I could find to 1:30th scale, but I could only find 1:45. It’s not too big of a deal since it does look like the cockpit would almost fit a human alliance figure in it. Like bumblebee. In the future when the prototype is official, I might start a patreon or go fund me and I’d like to get to make a bunch so I can share my creativity and dedication.

I still remember customizing my LT02 Clear to have a similar abs transformation. The forearms obviously needed some changing, and when it came to that part, I was at a dead end for the next step. Finally, I decided to add that piece to parts of the forearm, and the wide tab that adds forearm details in robot mode would be able to cover it. I was considering a lot because I saw that the forearm tab would be upside-down, but I just went with it in a different matter. It was still pretty good, and must say, he doesn't look like he has a "beer belly" as much as BA Thunder Leader after the customization was done. Couldn't you just have put the red piece of the nose of the truck that folds behind the windscreen to go in the cavity that's supposed to be for the chest ? the ones that are close to the matrix chamber. There seems to be a lot of space imo.

The LS-12 Megatron is way too big for this Optimus... and way bigger than BMB ...the better scale is the T-08 Shake Skywing Megatron , it’s perfect scale with the BMB

Front of the truck mode = spot-on accurate. Back of the truck mode = not so much. Front of the robot mode = spot-on accurate. And the back of the robot mode = spot-on accurate. The figure needs a remold.
