Thank you for another great analysis! Very instructive as always and well explained! This time I tried to pause the video after like every move by black and tried to find the right moves as I think this helps a lot to improve as a player. Glad I actually found some nice variations while doing this (either to find out it actually was played or computer suggested... or not.) :)

Chinese surnames are written and said first. In China, normally you would call people with their whole name, which it may sound strange in western. So this guy is Wei Yi (surname+given name). Usually, names have three syllables. In that case, the first is the surname and the two next are the name. Names with four syllables are very rare. In that case, two for the surname and two for the name. Since you already gave thanks, there goes my +1

Citriano Torres Calling people by their whole name is rude. If a person's name is A B C with A being the surname, one should call him B C. Or even just C. B in some traditions/conventions is a generational marker. Bunch of kids born within a certain year span would be called B X, B Y, B Z, etc..

Interestingly, his given name Yi (奕) means either bright, heavy or a lot, but there is another character with the same pronunciation and almost identical structure "弈" which means "to play chess (or go depending on the situation)".

Great video. Not too much over analysis of the other lines in each situation. Gets confusing when that's over done. I think it's because Jerry's speed of the instruction is a little slower, so you can see where the pieces are, and he comes back to the original position before moving on.

The complications that arise after 16. ... fxg4 17. Nd2 are very interesting. It looks like the best way for black to proceed would then be 17. ... h5, otherwise 18. Qxg4 is coming with a slight edge for white. White continues 18. Bg6, and then black is forced to sacrifice the exchange with 18. ... Rf5. White continues with 19. Rc1 Nf8, heading for e6. 20. Bxf5 exf5, and black has a pawn for the exchange sacrificed, and white's B@e3 is hemmed in, so the compensation is there. Going further here's a line given by Stockfish 5 after 21. c3 Ne6 22. Nb3 a5 23. Na4 Ba6 24. Rf2 bxc3 25. Rxc3 Bc4 26. Nbc5 Nxc5 27. Nxc5 Rb8 Just +.09 on depth = 27. Very cool!

i will insert the obligatory, "thank you" as i did learn somethings but almost wish i had not seen my french defense refuted =/ i do not think my middle game plan ever gives much thought to landing a knight on e4. i imagine i have stumbled onto it from time to time but now it will become a larger consideration. thank you for sharing this game as i had only been following the group a games, i think they may be called(?).

Welcome...Yes..Group A aka Masters section. The Ne4 idea may end up as a pawn sac. One can see a Bxe4 dxe4 sequence where black with then have the unopposed light-squared bishop.

Interesting that the 23. ...Nc3 took so long, since it seems white has only one response. Were there options besides ...nc3 or ...nb2?

At 23 black, Why move the kn at al? If withe want his attack going he have to move his d-kn to go to f2 and after that black can put his kn on c3. Instead black can play Qf8 on move 23.

Instead of 12. (c takes b2) from black why not Qa5 and apply pressure on knight . b3 is forced else knight is lost and c3 pawn grabs d2 and b2 square .Black can then move king to d8 and then to c7 in near future ,allowing rooks to swing on both kingside and queenside. Please not that a3 will be next move of white after b3 as b4 square is important to remove black pawn from c3
