@JoshOnGuitar

@@nickde6339 I am at a regional airline now and I've definitely gotten rusty. It really does blow out the window once you finish all your FAA checkrides. After that, it's company recurrent checks that you focus on, which are pretty much their own thing. I wouldn't say it's unnecessary information, but as you progress your career you narrow your skillset to what suits the gig you're doing. For example, at a 135 cargo gig I had to do a paper weight and balance every leg, so I definitely had to re-learn a little bit of this stuff. The airline has their own way of doing W&B that is quite different. This is foundational knowledge that you should never truly "forget", but it's okay to be a little rusty if it's not a common practice at your job. It will happen.

Does it matter if the arm is negative? Will it make the moment negative as well or do we just ignore the sign?

So, I'm guessing the arm is the distance from the datum line to the object/person? Also, looking at that equation, is the 'arm' synonymous with 'centre of gravity'? That is, once all of the equations have been done. I'd love to see what each number is measured in. Especially the moment and arm values.

You want to strive for an aft CG. An aft cg will give you a slower stall speed compared to a forward cg. An aft cg will give you a slightly higher crouse speed compared to a forward cg. An aft cg will burn less fuel on a long cross country flight. Remember, Never fly outside the cg envelope...Never. In small aircraft you have very little control of the cg...but some of you may be flying jumbo jets later on and an aft cg will save alot of fuel on a 10 hour flight. Blue Skys.

Jheisson Gonzalez I did find out. It is not in the POH. It is on a separate weight and balance sheet by itself that should be in the aircraft.
