I have a preference for Lightweights and Featherweights. Having a smaller turn radius just makes things so much easier for me.

Canonically, while Twin Noritta is considered the lightest (at 780 kg) and Black Bull as the heaviest (2340 kg), there are heavier machines out there, like GX's Fat Shark (2490 kg) and the very heavy (and most likely heaviest of all recorded machines, period) Luna Bomber, from the BS F-Zero games (3800 kg) (too bad it wasn't released outside of Japan though... I'm not including the custom machines, since they aren't considered main line stuff. But for the video itself, it's a nice way to introduce the difference between the machines' weight classes, while acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses.

This reminds me of POD, where weight was not listed as a stat anywhere but changed the car's grip, stability in collisions and behavior when jumping. This meant that heavier cars were strictly better to control since all other stats were customizable, making the ultra-heavy Shark the easiest to handle vehicle in the game.

Weight and Machine settings are very unique mechanics and imo much more interesting than just displaying the stats (which are lies anyway in GX). Leads to every machine having a unique feel instead of just being different statblocks Reminds a bit of SRB2 Kart actually since in that game there are only two stats: speed class (higher acceleration/drift boost at lower levels vs higher speed at higher levels) and weight class (better handling at lower levels vs less knockback taken and better drift boost at higher levels). Since each class has characters between 1-9, you can get some pretty interesting stat combinations such as Gamma at 1 speed and 9 weight so that he focuses on acceleration/weight at the expense of speed/handling, but has the best drift boost as a result. Then you have Flickie who has 9 speed and 1 weight resulting in VERY HIGH Speed/Handling, but bad acceleration/weight/drift boost, making the character a glass cannon. Omega is 9 speed and 9 weight so he has good speed/weight, good drift boost, but abysmal acceleration/handling so a mistakes are costly. Finally, Chao is 1 speed and 1 weight so they have the best acceleration/handling, good drift boost, but bad speed/weight. You need to be very good with item management because while you recover well and can take shortcuts easily, YOU WILL feel the effects of having low speed and (especially) being knockbacked severely by anyone with a weight stat. I guess you can F-Zero your way to first if you're good with bodyblocking foes behind you... Rambling aside, F-Zero good, SRB2 Kart good, vehicles feeling different instead of slightly fast or slightly drift worse good
