Nice work! I was waiting all week for part 2. Very informative. Did you end up leaving the rear crash bar on?

Look into DEI heat barier. I have it in the floors of my SCCA/daily driver it weighs like 15grams lol its foil with figer glass backing i used it and a old skate board wheel and rulled my entire floor under my carpet i have all the foam , sound deadening , A/C , full Hvac system removed in my car and with that DEI stuff its no different then driving around in the summer with the windows down it drop inside temps 18° over stock i also wrapped my exhaust from the fire wall back to the gas take. Helps with noise , heat in the car , heat off the gas tank and over all just looks cool lol i used the dei stiff on my fire wall both engine side and inside the cab and got another -5° for a total of -23°F over Stock temps in car and i weight everything for a total added weight of 29.8 grams ( your shift knob weighs more) for real man if you want comfort and a race car id look into it

some more things you can do to reduce weight: windows (replace with lighter material), Carbon hood, carbon trunk But those are things you have to pay for, all the stuff in these videos are weight reduction methods that were FREE

You’re exactly right. Carbon hood, trunk, even doors and roof. Those are things we’d like to do someday but there’s no way we could afford that right now. Thanks for the comment 🙏

Nice job! Love the detail. A word of caution though. Removing factory installed and, depending on the state, likely legally required safety equipment like airbags and crash bars could have serious insurance and legal consequences if you are ever in an accident. I'd hate for someone's car to get wrecked and their insurance refuses to pay out over something like this. Or, even worse, for my passenger to get seriously hurt or worse in an accident and be faced with having to explain to a jury why I removed the airbags and crash bars while forever living in guilt and wondering if they would have been better off if I left the safety systems intact. I'm not saying to not do this if you want to, just something to think about. Say safe everyone!

@@Gripworkz Ah ok. To be clear, my comment wasn't specifically targeted towards you or anyone else and wasn't meant to tell anyone not to do this, I was just bringing up the fact that modifying safety equipment can create big problems with the law and insurance if anything goes wrong for those who may not realize because I'd hate for anyone to end up in a bad situation over trying to save a few pounds. Anyways, keep up the great work! I just found your channel this morning and you earned a new subscriber here, your videos are great!

I was looking for a manual steering rack but I just cut the hoses to my power rack and couldn't tell much difference..

If you cut your hoses and couldn’t tell the difference your power steering might’ve not been working in the first place

Just get lighter material to replace your rear windshield and the rear quarter glass , wouldn't cost too much but would definitely save a lot of weight
@Gripworkz
@Gripworkz 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that isn’t allowed in the class that we compete in. The car must retain all factory glass.

@@Gripworkz oh sorry , i wasn't aware of it 🤦🏻 So then what more you can do is that you cut off the interior supports for the hood and boot , it'll make it weaker ofcourse but can make it lighter that way .

If I really wanted to cut more weight I’d get rid of the carpet, AC and PS. But I don’t feel the need to do all that yet.
