Well diagnosed……….that “Surgex” looks like the real deal 😉

Nice video Mikey. I have used Rectorseal 8-way boiler treatment in the past and am now using Hercules boiler and heating system cleaner. I put in a quart before I fire up the boiler for the season. Would you recommend Surgex over both of these products or are they somewhat comparable? Thanks.

You know all steam must have water treatment in them all the time and they must be blown down if you want to get the most life out of it. Like your channel

I don’t recommend Surgex. I added to a steam boiler after draining it filled to level and after two days the boiler started to bang excessively surging to the point of water coming out first floor radiators. I added one small bottle of surgex. Maybe that was to much. I would try 8 way.

Is this different than the 8-way? Should you use one or the other or can you use both at the same time? Which is better?

Hi Mike! Question, if you have a good running boiler that maintains in this water level and has a boiler treatment added by the plumber in the Fall when it was serviced. Should I be draining the boiler and refilling it sporadically during the winter season? Or should I just leave it and drain it at the end of winter. I have cast iron radiators and the system runs pretty quiet. FYI I have the boiler serviced every Fall. It’s a Well McClain natural gas steam boiler from 2013. Thank you in advance!! R/ Jonathan
