When you are living for some time in a different country you are starting noticing weird things. From the European perspective, Peru has a lot of them.

Avocado is cheaper because it's produced here, while Wheat is not produced on mass here but rather imported from your countries (poland, Ukraine, Russia).

I'm peruvian. And Peru is a country with a great cultural diversity. Many great indigenous nations were before. Until today Peru is a very Native American country. With a strong European influence, especially due to the Spanish or Italian migration. and African and Asian Migration also left their influence. That is why the Peruvian culture and its gastronomy have resulted in a unique product.

Interesting perspective. Im Peruvian married to a polish wife, and I’m sure I can point out quite a few “weird” things. Starting with…..why o why take the shoes off inside the home ha!

This is so interesting! The orange thing is so weird! I also notice in Australia people tend to say “how’s it going” but don’t wait for a response too!

I think you were not in the capital city. Peru has a variety of cultures inside, thus different kinds of food, language, music, tradition, climate, etc. Guinea pigs are mostly common in the highlands, not so much in the coast or jungle. There are many types of oranges, mostly in the coast. Bread is really cheap: 0.05€.

Interesting about the lemon and the lime! It’s like how my second language is closely linked to another but one word could mean headache and going for a walk in the different languages!

Cosmetics and even shampoo and conditioner are so expensive in Peru that most adults and adults with children use baby shampoo and conditioner for their hair. Families with children pass around and share baby shampoo and conditioner. Families share baby shampoo, parents share their small children's baby shampoo. Limes are simply called lemons in most Spanish language dialects. Just 1 word for two things! In Peru it's different, and yet, in Peru, 9 dialects of Spanish language are spoken. But limes and lemons are stilled switched in all those dialects inside Peru.

No way, oranges are very sweet, what you show was a lemon, orange here are big very orangish color, and we have different kinds , unless is an orange low quality out of season, and also depending the season the quality…lemon is very acid here ..and is useful for a nice limonade or ceviche ….
@ddriana
@ddriana 4 жыл бұрын
Annie, I think you are confused. Orange is naranja. What you showed is a lemon = limón (the small green one that turns yellow when ripe. Lime in spanish is lima (the big one) and is not so acidic or sour. We use lemon to prepare our flag dring: pisco sour.

Hey Annie, I thought I'd see some places in Peru. Have no idea? Some of the things you say were truly weird but others would be just unusual. Why their oranges are green might be it's not genetically modified and truly organic.

shower gel?,,, jajajaja , no amiga , we use soap, even in Europe people use soap :)...shower gel /shampoo is the same for us, that's why we buy different products, because we don't want to look like cheap people lol ! we call them oranges because as you can see those are fruits, they came in deferent color tough , for example that one is green is because it need time to mature, you will see the color changing in a few days. :) expensive bread toast?...hum i think you should go to a real bakery from your hood ( instead fancy supermarket) get $1 (3oles) of bread ( 0.20 centimos each, you will get 15 units of breads) cut it in a half (2 toast)..put it in a toaster and voila!. add avocado little salt on it and enjoy ! :) about running to get to other side of the road, the authorities need to do somethings, is very dangerous in certain ares of city but no Miraflores or San Isidro. i hope it change!. But over all i think my country in super!!!...just a tip: We don't like when tourist smells..please take shower every day and use a nice deodorant. thanks!, no offense :(

In Brazil Lemon is the lime (green) and the big one yellow is called Sicllian Lime. I think some of shocking stuff it's just not that shocking. When I moved to Europe everything was just too normal, but europenas sometimes see some slightly changes as something "shocking". And of course Avocado is cheap 'cause in every place in South America has a bunch of tree of avocados falling off in our heads, c'mon...

In Peru they don't have problem shaking hands under the doorway as opposed to Poland.....LOL. Yes, lemons and lime are mixed because in the old times there was only the green variety. It's like during the Cold War that the only coffee available in Poland was Kawa Inka so everybody grew thinking that coffee was like that. Of course Kawa Inka is much healthier.

Typical gringa has no clue of Peru living in gringa area. If you want bread go to the local bodega and ask for ppang, obviously your shopping at expensive super mercados expect the price to be expensive compared to Poland. Orange is cheap I can see that your one of those gringa who are scared to hit up local markets just stay in your gringa areas.
