I have been a student of his for 4 years and was at his house today. He played this piece for me. I was just ...speechless. The word MAESTRO is very deserving.

Beautiful! I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen Hill some years ago. His instruments are gorgeous. I would love to own one. (as a left handed player)

he has many recordings and he is about to record another album the first week of July. On CDBABY he has a couple of discs for purchase and you may find others on GSI or Itunes.

I assume this is the 1a guitar. I have the 2a made by Graham Emes whilst he was Stephen's apprentice. My guitar is also fantastic. Just a pity I can't play as well as this.

Geeore's little smile at the end says it all... "I nailed it. " P.S. I would be interested to hear/see all those nay sayers who complain about the brisk tempo and the stunning precision; calling the performance robotic and too fast. WE all would like them to post their performances so that we could not only compare tempos but performance quality as well as muse on phrasing, tone color et cetera. Criticism from the envious and ungifted has no weight or merit.

So if we take your view to its logical conclusion, if we cannot play as well as a particular artist, we should not provide a view on their interpretation? That's absurd. The tempo of this interpretation of the Chaconne is very fast indeed. He is clearly a gifted musician, but I don't think this interpretation does justice to the subtle harmonies and emotion of the Chaconne. That's something he didn't "nail".

let the music continue to live, each new interpretation makes it bigger. I also think that he gets carried away by technical bragging, losing the tempo of a chaconne; but it's still a great pleasure to hear another great version, not "the version" (I don't have to pass a performance to criticize it, I hope).

Not going to enter an argument here as there are always different interpretations of beautiful pieces. But in my humble opinion, there are more sympathetic interpretations of the Weiss Ciacona on her - eg see Gaelle Solal’s beautiful rendition which I think has a tempo and phrasing far more appropriate to the piece. But hey, the world would be a boring place if we all agreed.

I agree , GSI guitars are too expensive. To me, if you like to have a good guitar you can travel to Spain or the country where the guitar you really like is made. I 'm sure you can pay less than half price that you see at GSI. I will do so if I can to get my favorite guitar.

I hate to admit it but it’s true... I played a Dowina (made in Slovakia) and it costs a third of what my GSI guitar costed

I do wish they were cheaper. But thats on me. I just commissioned a Simplicio replica for a good price for that reason. Just another goal to work towards is all it is.
