Hair is NOT hard to draw. Here are some tips for easy hair drawing.

I think it's so funny how when I watch you do it, it all makes sense and I'm like 'yes, yes, mhmm and that curl right there, yesss...." but when it's time to do it on my own I'm like 'OMG WHAT IS EVEN ON THIS HEAD?!?!? Wat I do? Wat is ITTTT??" LOL

Liz Benson =). It happens to me all the time. There's a lot of basic knowledge that goes into it. But jsut keep drawing and you'll build that foundation.

It was a lot easier in the days when girls used to brush their hair. One good tip I was given -- draw what you see, not what you expect to see. Very useful video, thanks.

Thank you so much for the tutorial! I am seriously struggling with hair, and am beginning to turn from cartoon drawings to realistic, and this is the first hair tutorial video that actually helped! Hair can be a pain. I think the most effective way to drawing hair is NOT to draw all the hair. Just a suggestion of hair is usually enough.

Yes, that's why most people get intimidated with drawing hair. You don't have to draw every single strand, it just needs to be suggested.

Thank ZenoEvil. Yeah, I know what you mean. I have a tendency to speed up as well. But with hair, that speed works against you. Once you have a plan for the hair, then you can speed up.

Laura Aseltine That's great Laura. I'm glad a teacher would find my approach helpful. I remember my high school art teachers weren't very good. They had some basic concepts but didn't really teach in a way that would improve your art. But then again, it's art and I was probably the only one in class serious are drawing=), so I can't blame the techer.

Excellent as always. I learned a lot again. I really like the way you explain and show things, you dont fancy things, and unlike most tutors online, you can actually speak what you want to say while drawing, and not just mumble meantime, and forget what you wanted to say. I kind of had problems with hair before, but highlights seems to help a lot, i did not know that i should handle hair as 1 big mass or shape instead of lines.

LovelyHermycat Hermione Thanks. I get my pencils at an art store. Lately, I've just been getting it online, places like Amazon will have the general stuff that you need. But any art store will have all the stuff you'll ever need for drawing.
