@@OST1350 The graphical difference is definitely noticeable, even after not seeing any of Rome 1 at any time in my last 7 or so years I could see the difference. If you can't, go watch an original Rome 1 video, its definitely noticeable. Bare in mind however its largely just a resolution increase with some improvements to the textures, such as water. It was never going to be super modern, it uses the original and now very old engine Rome 1 was on, it has limits, but it is very much improved all across the board.

A thing about the auto resolve: heavy cavalry counts BIG TIME, and generals are heavy cav.

Three Kingdoms has a lot more dlc left so I doubt there'll be a new historical title soon other than sagas. I know a lot of historical fans don't see three kingdoms as a historical game but ca does

@@thevenbede767 well i don't know how many content can 3 kingdoms get, but if medieval come it would probably take some time to prepare a new engine, so if the game gets released in 3 years it would be perfect and become the new main title. In the end it is just a thought with a little hope mixed in it.

I remember pantheons being so massive that you literally could not pull the camera back far enough to see over the top, and had to go around the building to see the other side. Good times...

Speaks volumes about the current state of TW. The current Warhammer model doesnt work that well with historical titles. Attila and Rome 2 reached the peak of TW for me, I'm not a fan of the whole RPG system they have for generals. It works well for Warhammer, maybe Troy even, but it feels like a last minute addition in 3K.

I loved Medieval 2 and Rome TW. Enjoyed Warhammer TW a great deal, but my potato of a comp doesnt handle them so well. As someone who LOATHED Rome 2, since I played it at launch, this remaster is awesome. And I finally get to PLAY as Macedon!

I revisited it awhile back because I hadn't played it in years, and it looks horrible to what I remember. Glad it got a remaster because this was one of my favorite TWs I stopped buying them after Rome 2.

@@DovahKanye yeah i think most people don’t actually remember what Rome was like XD, its mostly nostalgia, as powerful as it is, it doesn’t fix the AI pathfinding or horrible balancing issues. Back then it was unbelievable but it really needed a lot of fixes for a remaster

Remaster is developed by Feral Interactive (who ported Total War games to Linux, Mac and Android), not CA. And allegedly they approached CA with remaster idea. CA only gets credit for agreeing to cash-in on that.

I remember as a kid using two light infantry and one cav unit to roll entire armies one after the other, by picking a side, engage the unit on the furthest side of that formation, one unit head on, the other infantry from the side and the cav in the back. Just time it to where the frontal attack lands first and the flanks come right after. Unit breaks immediately and melts because breathing on a routing unit means instant death in Rome one. If you are quick enough you can just go boom, boom, boom, boom and collapse the army like dominoes. I still remember my budy all of the time "Uhh, can you best this for me?" Battle school says: 341 vs 2021. Everytime I'd just roll my eyes and say "Yeeaaaah, just scoot over." Lol

@@taowroland8697 Well, I wasn't really painting that aspect of the game as a bad thing necessarily, I'm quite fond of those old memories of showing off to my friends. I've honestly never been interested in MP, the tactics and strategy combined with the narrative and role playing aspects of campaign are much more compelling to me. Also personally I don't like to exploit the game in order to just win I like to role play using traditional formations and tactics, I was just sharing a nostalgic memory of my childhood.

@@kyserblade43 mp is lightyears better than SP in terms of enjoyment. Having friends to play with and playing on teams for clout is so much better. Its actually challenging. I played campaign for 3 years before transferring to mp. I've not looked back once.

my first total war was medieval 1. As a kid who loved history, the concept of the game had me hooked, and then Rome 1 was released, it blew my little 8 year old mind.

Why this is the best Total War game: - Best music in the series - Pre-battle speeches - Character traits and descriptions were lit - The senate mechanic - You can build more than 6 buildings in a city - To reinforce armies you need to actually spend resources and think about logistics instead of just waiting around for your army to replenish by itself - Fun and varied factions - Great setting and atmosphere - Trade is represented by little carts and boats moving around the map

This is the perfect game for an Online (co-op) campaign. 1. Probably the Shortest endturn Times of All Total war games 2. Modabillity to create small, fast paced campaigns with even shorter endturn times 3. Fast Battles 4. Both or (if you really want to make us happy) all three players Could play as the different Roman factions 5. Rome vs Carthage would be epic 6. Its Rome Total war!! We all loved it and Played it a thousand times over, its time to get competitive and See who really Mastered Rome Total Wars Campaign

Firing Rome 1 up after years of playing Shogun and Medieval was insane. Prior to the game coming out I remember a PC Gamer article that showcased the campaign map. It was just incredible at the time. This game, this game was an indescribably big part of my childhood. I can't believe how they've managed to keep it true, but also improve it.

Yep, also the Seleucids were so wealthy if you developed them correctly, that you could create whole 20 unit armies out if them. Also, they complement Phalanx Pikemen very well, they flank while the Pikemen hold them at bay.

I used to love this game so much, the number of hours I put into it back then was crazy. Pity they did not fix the issue with charging your general into any unit, (even into the back of unarmoured, no moral peasants) and half the generals unit dying from the impact.

Won’t happen, we’ll get ETW 2 instead of a remaster. Nothing ETW onwards will ever likely be remastered. The remaster is very much focused on the TW classics of Rome 1, and maybe one day Medieval 2.

@@lionheartx10 There's no Total War game with more half-baked feeling, than Empire. I think that after a certain point, the developers just gave up and moved on, leaving behind a scorched earth of bugs, glitches and unresolved mechanics. This is not the way to treat your game. This was a shameful display.

It was a hugely over ambitious game and CA bit off more than they could handle at the time hence why it’s very rough and seemingly unfinished. But it doesn’t need to be remastered. It’s need to be remade completely as a Sequel, ETW 2 is what you want not a remaster!

God I forgot how much I had missed about this game. I’m totally on the wh2 wagon these days but man this game may be old but the siege maps and how cinematic everything is done is just way better than what’s in wh2. Even just the function of being able to go down and see your city and the buildings you’ve made, like is it truly useful no not really but god damn it’s cool and can be really immersive to the player. Plus the music, my nostalgia if you can’t tell is overflowing.

For some reason I always pictured him to be some skinny dude with glasses. Never watch a stream before. Nice beard. So happy the command line thing is still there I love spawning in a army of elephants and stuff and just storming the map or giving other factions a tonne of money or troops and see what they do with them. Not sure if its just because the older games where rather clunky in regards to A.I pathing but I find the older games to be a lot more difficult than more modern titles such as three kingdoms. Rome: Total War was my introduction to the series so perhaps I'm a little bias but this appears to be a fantastic remaster and pre-purchased as soon as I saw it.

Nobody else notice that when Lionheart selects a friendly unit (or multiple units) that that unit's portion to his army's total balance of power is changed into a different color, thus accurately showing how each unit individually contributes to the balance of power as a whole?????

Pro tip: General bodyguards are heavy cavalry and heavy cavalry is king. If you learn how to use heavy cav you only fear more heavy cav. And elephants. Always fear elephants unless you have superior range. I once used 3 units of hoplites and the faction leader with 100 bodyguards to erase a Macedon army with around 10 hoplites and a few units of light cav. Never underestimate generals.

I was really hoping they would update the recruitment system so that you could recruit more than one unit per city per turn. But I'm still really looking forward to playing this again. Already pre-ordered with that loyalty discount! Guess this will be my reward as I will officially be done with uni the day this comes out!
