Oakland is the birthplace of the Black Panther Party which is part of the reason Oakland never fell under an LA crip or blood structure. Crips and bloods in LA was influenced by the Oakland panthers

These guys are positive despite the circumstances around them. You can feel the aura and upbeat attitude when they speak. Usually when you see a vlog on hood areas , you can feel the coldness and vision the dark outlook (which is understandable considering the area). These guys though are energetic and driven. They got more heart to be successful than those who live in upper echelon areas.

Really hope they stay structured like they’ve always been, seems like the bay has always stayed true to their own culture I really don’t want to see LA and the bay become one thing. Going up to sf was always nice not having to deal with the politics and bs that happens down in LA.

In my 20's I spent almost every weekend in Oakland. Everyone was always kind to me and my girls and we always felt safe which to be honest surprised me because I heard all the stories. I'll always have love for Oakland ❤

I’m from NY used to live in E Oakland locals did a lot of volunteer work in their own communities and were very conscious and accepting like the guy said. Wasn’t expecting that. Gentrification is crazy over there tho so I wouldn’t feel right living there now

E14th, aka International blvd, has every ethnic group living together. Beautiful from Skyline all the way down to the Port, Hegenburger and the Estuary to Alameda Beach. There's no greater love for a city like the love for Oakland.

All minorities just look out for each other out here in the bay . It’s actual solidarity! That’s why I always tell people that think Cali is all the same as LA that , nah homie , we move different in the bay and especially Oakland/the east bay. We all look out for one another in our own way . Shot gets messy sometimes but really it ain’t so bad lol

Man this takes me back to 99-2002. Raised in Frisco. Lived in the Moe then Moved to Double Rock. The common thing like they said they know if you with the streets or you just living there. They looked out for me because I Hooped and played baseball
