There are hundreds if not thousands of these….I feel unfortunately people only care depending on who the messenger is. If people truly care about how problems start in these communities they would research. Takes you less than a day to find out about poverty in minority communities ,welfare system and gang violence. Listen to what rappers say and use critical thinking what kinda environment normalizes this type of music. What kind of label and people would give millions to these young murderers…. As you search more that’s when you hear about Cointelpro, CIA distributing drugs, red lining etc….but again I stress…people don’t care lol…rather just blame the color of their skin for why they do crime. Sb: if you’re watching a video and all it does is pander to YT guilt, blaming racist conservatives and mention trump multiple times..it’s probably not the right video to learn from.

andrew, you are my favorite journalist of all time. watching you run into the street alongside the carjacking victim and yelling "what happened? what happened? what happened?" encapsulates exactly what it means to be a serious reporter. walking around a city, observing daily life, literally running to catch up with people involved in an event transpiring in real time, and asking "what happened?" is something that most (successful!) journalists do not have the gall to do. i have been a fan since agnb had a very small following, and i am excited to follow your career through the years :)

Losing your teeth, even if it’s just all your upper back teeth really does a number on one’s self esteem. Not only is it expensive to get implants , physical problems occur like pain in your back, jaw, facial structure starts to deteriorate making you look much older, it can be hard to chew, even talk right. There is a whole host of problems just from missing teeth…. mentally, physically, and emotionally. You can even die from letting your teeth get infected….That dude has no idea the suffering he will face later on, if he even does decide to get clean, and start to do better. Missing teeth is no joke, and frankly I think he looks bad. On the inside, and out. Most recovering addicts don’t start to truly heal until way after they get clean, and finally get all new teeth. It’s a constant reminder of the life you used to live having no or lots of missing teeth.

incredible work. greatly appreciated the balance of letting the characters you met tell the story without seemingly twisting any words, just showing varying opinions and letting viewers make connections and conclusions. I visited San Fran (as a Canadian) this past year motorcycling across the US. Heard all the stories and history, got there and felt more or less, "this is it?" It was still cool, to be sure. But one of those "never meet your heroes" situations. Unfortunately a very similar story in a lot of the major cities up north, especially on the west coast of Canada.

This may get buried, but I used to work with the City Impact Mission in the Tenderloin, right where Andrew is walking. D.A.R.E. taught us that the addicted and homeless do drugs because it's "cool" and "fun," and are just inherently lazy and stupid. What I learned working there is the opposite. They're smart, capable people who are hopeless, abused, and crushed by the system - and if I had lived through their circumstance, fentanyl wouldn't be a strong enough drug to cope. It isn't that they don't want to fix their situation, it's that they can't. For every story that was told in this vid, I've heard a dozen much worse, and nobody - I mean NOBODY - deserves the things that have happened to them. If you think it can't happen to you, I've met enough corporate bankers on the street to know that it can. Thank you for showing this to the world Andrew. And for anyone watching: the homeless don't need your pity. They need your help.

Every single addict in the world is not just a perfect angel. Your logic is no different than someone who went on a ride-along with police and goes around preaching about how all cops are perfect and amazing people. There are evil people, sociopaths, and people with no intent of ever getting clean that are addicted to drugs just like any other walk of life. Wondering how much volunteer work you've actually done to have never met a person that says they absolutely don't want help. This unrelenting sympathy and do-no-wrong attitude towards addicts is not helping anyone, clearly. You people who can't balance sympathy with reality and actionable change are just as bad as the people who show none at all. This is coming from a former addict. Nobody who ever tried to baby and nurture me out of my addiction by calling me a brilliant little angel person ever made a difference. You didn't have to say you've never dealt with it, because your attitude gives it all away. This obsessive sympathy and feigned virtue signalling/compassion is just as much of a disease as addiction, just more sinister because you look like a bad person for calling people out when their whole personality is "Look at me, I care about everyone so much!" I know addicts that are still on the streets that would manipulate and take advantage of people like you, to no end. And the whole time you'd be losing sleep over how to show more compassion to people who wouldn't bat an eye if they saw you get gunned down in the street.

I was homeless from 2005-2008....The H.O.T team got me out of hippie hill, Haight street.... I have 14 years of sobriety.......with no relapse. People can change. You can do it! The situation here in san Francisco has gotten much worse since the pandemic. Hopefully things will get better. Sometimes it takes a magnifying glass to make more people focus.........Thank you for bringing light to this dark situation Andrew!

Why do you only praise your god for the good he supposably does, and not for the people he's letting suffer? Your own argument can be used against you. God is a lie created by humans.@@godswill2260

No. Lol. We dont need this redundant reporting. You can walk out in any blue city and see the problem....vote different and if that doesnt work vote with your feet

Apparently neither of you watched the end of the video. He filmed all of this in a six block radius. Lots of big cities use the same method of allowing certain types of crime in small areas to keep criminals from spilling over into the better parts of town. And literally every big city (and most small towns) have a nice part of town and then a small, bad part of town that's full of drugs and criminals. Does it matter if the city is blue or red, they all have the same issues

@@dr.z3426Statistically the worst drug problems are in red cities. Red cities are also the ones who statistically have the least education and highest poverty rates. No surprise there.
