You are an excellent organizer as well as crafter! Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to have another go at my craft/sewing/office/laundry room. As I aged, learned that putting labels on the outside of my containers is a huge help! Since crafting - mostly gell printing and card making - is a new hobby for me, I'm trying to fit it in with my sewing "stuff" which I've accumulated over the past many, many years.

I think you'll find hobby rooms have a way of evolving over time as you interests modify. Lots of times you can find space to use smaller containers. I added a lot of Swiffer containers into little spaces this year.

I love All the antique pieces starting with your grandmother's chest. My grandmother use to store her pies and cakes in those cedar chests. And my mother said they were delicious and fresh. They use to use apples to keep their desserts fresh for a long time. And they used other things as well. Your grandmother's chest just reminded me of that, when you said she would make her pies on top of the chest. I'm sure they were delicious as well 😀 I love your father's map case and your mother's sewing chest. So glad you got to keep these pieces and use them as well. I know they probably bring back memories. Your craft studio is spacious and very organized. I like how you arranged the sitting area, it seems cozy and a relaxing place to create. You can look out the window at the cutting station, that's a nice touch. You have different areas for different tasks, which I think is great. I really like your walls of three tier storage. Happy crafting !

Thank you so much Laura! It was a truly lovely space to just be in. The room is completely empty now except for Cordelia's cat tree. We are getting ready for a marathon move in late winter. I started with the studio because I thought it would take the most energy and perserverance to get done. And I dread the partial unpack/repack/move again while the new house is built.

Started out with scrapbooking and advanced to cards. I love watching your encouraging videos. One of these days, I'll be able to complete more than 5 to 6 cards in a day.

Hi Roxanne - I have found over the years that the space you have available will fill up!! My purging habits are pitiful, so I could use a much smaller space than this if I were better at that! 5 - 6 cards a day is very admirable, don't sell yourself short!!

Thanks 25Prague and Welcome Back! I am so happy with the light in this area. I have crafted in the basement and an apartment with small windows and there is just no comparison. The only drawback is I have to wait unitl after noon to film for KZfaq because my craft desk faces an East window. The stations just worked themselves out because of table space requirements and the way I have the bookcases situated. I learned that little L shaped bookcase trick from my mother and have thanked her ever since. Happy Crafting and Come Back Soon!

Dear Julia... that was wonderful... 💖💖💝💝💖💖 thank you for taking us on a tour of your stunning craft studio. I love the colour scheme of your room, and all the natural light coming in from your windows. You have a lovely, neat and organised craft studio, and now I can visualise you in your studio as you create beautiful cards, and craft projects for us. If I had that room I would never want to leave... 🤣My craft room would probably fit in one corner of your studio. I love the fact that you have a hardwood floor, where as in my craft room I have a light cream coloured carpet. While it is nice underfoot it can be annoying especially if you spill something, or get little pieces of paper, glitter etc. I have to be particularly careful, although I am not a messy crafter!!! 😉 It was lovely seeing several pieces of old furniture handed down to you from your mum, dad and grandmother. It is difficult to imagine that the top of that cabinet was your grandmother's only kitchen work space. Grandmother's knew how to cook didn't they? If that was our only work space in our kitchens today we wouldn't be very happy at all, and probably grumble a lot! Julia, what do you do with all the 12 x 12 inch papers, and do you use them in your cards? I have found the pattern or design too big to use in my cards. I do have 12 x 12 inch paper sheets that are fabulous to make my own envelopes. The pattern side of the paper is on the inside while the white side is on the outside, which is suitable to write the address and send it through the post. Julia, do you have any projects that you can show us using your 12 x 12 inch card stock? Please, and thank you! 😊 If I have some ideas then I won't be so afraid to purchase some 12 x 12 inch pads. I mainly have the 6 x 6 inch, and a couple 8 x 8 inch paper pads. Where did you store your flowers? I would love to see you do a craft project/s using your flowers, and stamens as I absolutely love flowers. Thank you so much Julia for this beautiful tour of your special space, and now I know when I say to you "Happy crafting" I know that you will!!! God's richest blessings, love and hugs..., and happy crafting. Gloria 🥰☕🍰💐💖

Dear Dear Gloria - I am glad you were so very satisfied with my little tour. I am not much for showing off my space. It is lovely and I feel much more blessed than I deserve for sure. I have a suggestion for your carpet. Have you considered one of those 4 x 6 desk chair pads? They are a bit pricey in that size, but well worth it in the event of a spill. Most of the paper that I am using to do the "Scraps" videos started out as 12 x 12. I am always careful to get paper that has a smaller print. And I will work on that video for you soon. The cases that I put the flowers in just snuggled up right next to the 3 drawer sterylite cases on two of those white shelves, in the "Flowers" section. Wasn't that nice? Take care and we will chat soon - Julia

@@SeniorSusieStamps Hi Julia. You are blessed, and you deserve a beautiful work space because you are a caring lady who wants to help others in bettering their paper craft art. No, I hadn't considered one of those mat things, but I want to avoid that if possible because I don't want it to be a trip hazard. I am very careful especially when working with paints, and ink pads etc... that they stay firmly on my desk. Even my paint brushes, blending tools and daubers are away from the edge, and I have some kitchen towel on the desk where I rest them when not in immediate use. It is wonderful that you can use every inch of your 12 x 12 papers, (with the exception of the little scrap you threw away in the last video 😉🤣) but I would like to see what you do with a full 12 x 12 piece of paper! Be blessed, and have a wonderful day in your beautiful studio. 🥰🌻💖💖💖

@@SeniorSusieStamps Hi Julia. In Australia we have A4 size card stock which measures 21 cm x 29.8 cm or 8 2/8" x 11 6/8". I have two main card sizes - A5 (large) measuring 14.9 cm x 21 cm or 5 7/8" x 8 2/8". (A4 scored 14.9 cm or 5 7/8") - A6 measuring 10.5 cm x 14.9 cm or 4 1/8" x 5 7/8". (A4 cut in half making two card bases, and scored at 10.5 cm or 4 1/8") 💖💖 My basic card size is the A6, and is perfect for Australia post. 💖💖 I rarely make A5 size cards as going through Australia post it requires 2 postage stamps. If I used the BigZ butterfly die I would possibly use A5 size, but depending on my composition I might trim it down a little, and I make my own envelopes using 12" x 12" paper to fit this card size. I do however vary card sizes sometimes depending on my project or art work...., and a few scrappy bits of cardstock! I hope you were able to make sense of all these measurements. There are so many numbers I hope I got them right!!! Blessings, love and hugs. Gloria 🥰💐💝

What a super/large room, Julia! It looks like you have been crafting for many years. I still like the wood stamps as well. I wonder what inks you like and which are your favourite brand. We all like the Distress lines but I mean the regular lines like SU, Catherine Pooler, Gina K., etc. I would like to get more of the Versaclair one as the few I have, I really like. Looks like you have Spectrum Noir alcohol markers? I have one of their sets and I also bought the Dick Blick markers as they are most like Copics I think. Thanks for sharing, love your channel! Oh, would love to see you use your gel plate on a video. I bought one but have not used it. ❤️🇨🇦 P.S. Good of you to share your space with your hubby for his fly fishing desk! lol! 😘 I’m sure he loves his fishing - what a great hobby … to be outdoors!

Thank you! My crafting journey started out years ago in wreaths and bow making then into a very small florist shop in the garage. That is where all the shelves, tables and ribbon rack came from. Then mother fell and broke her hip and I had to close the business to care for her. Honestly I use Stampin up ink because that's what I started with. However I am not sure but if I were to purchase again I wouldn't get the Catherine Pooler set. I hear they are fabulous. I have hesitated getting any for fear I would be disappointed in my collection after getting just one as many raves as I have seen. I love Copics but they are just too pricey for me to get the complete set, so I chose the SN instead. The tips are not as easy to use and I really don't think they blend as well. But for the amount of coloring I do they are more than adequate. I also use gel pens, colored sharpies and zig water color markers. I am always thrilled when my sweetie comes to visit with coffee or wine or just to tie a fly. We both love to fish and I am learning flyfishing at 66 - so I may never be world class but I have fun and think that is what it's about. Happy Crafting and Come Back Soon!!
