After your hunt, our Skull Squad will arrange for your trophies to be collected from your hunting outfitter We offer nationwide collections free of charge. And our team are well-trained to ensure that all trophy parts are clearly recorded, loaded and transported Your trophies are then delivered to our veterinary approved Dip & Pack facility where they're photographed, checked in, and undergo the necessary raw processing While this is taking place, you will be contacted by the service team to discuss the details of your order.
We have a fantastic team of professionals who will walk you through every step. You will be assigned a dedicated client liaison who will be your single point of contact and will be available to discuss mounting instructions, poses, give suggestions, and answer any queries you may have. Our team will work closely with your outfitter to ensure that all correct paperwork is on hand for efficient and legal export of your completed hunting trophies.
Trophies are transported and received into our studios. Every item is meticulously checked and placed into safe storage until your order is confirmed.
Our experienced team of taxidermists are led by world champion sculptor and master taxidermist Travis de Villiers. Travis's hands on approach means that each form is anatomically correct and true to the African species. We have developed a unique technique to create the most lifelike forms in the industry, giving our clients artistry that is accurate and beautiful. Spitting Image Taxidermy is proud to tan all trophies at our in-house tannery.
This allows us to control the turnaround times and the quality of the skins being mounted. We have the opportunity to assist clients should there be any issues with their skins. We also offer commercial tanning of flat skins and back skins with hair on or too leather The foundation of amazing taxidermy is in the mannequin that is beneath the skin.
Spitting Image Taxidermy sculpts its own mannequins from body casts and projections. Our gifted and experienced artists shave and shape each mannequin to fit your individual trophy. The horn and eyes are meticulously set and wet tanned skins are carefully pulled over, smoothed and secured. Mounting is completed when the eyes are tucked and the cape is beautifully stitched. We use hunting photos and reference material to ensure that any special feature of your trophy is highlighted.
Each trophy is a work of art and a piece that is Worth Remembering. Once your trophies have been mounted, they go through a drying period there after our finishing team put the final touches on each and every piece. This includes airbrushing cleaning, painting and polishing. The process assists in returning the natural beauty of each trophy as they were in the wild.
Hunting is not just killing and Spitting Image Taxidermy is not just about mounting your animals. We have developed an entire lifestyle range from luggage to hunting accessories, furniture and decor. We offer an incredible range of retail products that can be made from your animal skins and hides or supplied as stock items.
Spitting Image Taxidermy offer life-sized reproductions of iconic species such as rhino, elephant hippo and lion. We produce replicas of our trophies, skulls and horns which can be used for mounting or can be beautifully displayed in your home or office space. Taking steps Into the future, we are the first African taxidermy to offer 3D scanning and printing of your trophies.
Whether a bleached skull or a meticulously constructed skeletal articulation, the Bone Doctor team are trained to produce beautiful quality artworks that can be presented in trophy room, homes or offices. Crating of your trophies is an intricate science. In order to keep the cost of shipping to an absolute minimum, our team are trained to position your trophies in such a way that the overall volume of your container is as small as possible.
