Remember that Reapers have a very poor turn radius. If you keep spinning around them and flank them, they will eventually lose interest and you can get away.

For pretty much any monster you can just swim slightly past them and/or swim in zigzag patterns and you can lose them quick.

A word of advice for new players who might be too afraid to explore: If you aren't familiar with a biome's fauna, stick to the bottom The dangerous stuff can GENERALLY be found swimming closer to the top/middle depths They'll rarelly detect you if you hug the sea floor. Look up often and keep an eye out for potential cover. Caves, coral trees, stone arches, mushrooms, peaks, islands, shipwrecks; leviathans have trouble navigating around terrain obstacles. Good luck.

@@mrg7927 Yes, there is one at the mushrooms it was probably that one... ran into this myself once i swam home so fcking fast with my seamoth, PAST the lifepod, turned around and... instant quit.

@@martonstrenner1937 I hate that one over there . He jumped scared my ass. Heard a noise , looked behind me and he was right there trying to get me . Mind you , this was my first experience with the reaper . Didn’t even know what it looked like . Quit the game for 2 weeks lol 😂

@@martonstrenner1937 it scared the sh*t out of me and same happened with an adult ghost but they don’t really scare me now . It’s more of the jump scares that get me lol 😂 I was having a heart attack, especially being someone that is absolutely terrified of the ocean and refuses to go in at all

the seamoth electric shock update is very handy. the reaper lets go instantly when you press the button. also use a stasis rifle to keep him steady to give you time to escape

Btw, whenever u shock a reaper or make it run away, it always runs in the direction of your lifepod... Probably something similar will happen with other leviathans.

Reapers go from brick-shittingly terrifying to literal annoyances once you realize they can be pretty much entirely ignored as long as you raise/lower depth while turning slightly every time they roar. Like, seriously, you don't even need to know where it is. Keep going the swirly zig-zag and they can't touch you

I absolutely love how, after he gets away, he flees in a straight line for some moment before taking a quick glance to see if it is sill there and... yup ! Looks just like after that he makes the decision to never look back again... until he does and immediately regrets it.

LoL, nice. I think everyone has had this exact experience at some point during their playthrough. It's inevitable. The crazy part is, reapers are actually pretty easy to deal with if you know what to do. Don't stop to look at it, just keep swimming. If you think it might be chasing you, change direction suddenly. Keep some peepers or reginalds on your hotbar. If you have one in your hand and you're facing a reaper when it charges, it'll eat the fish instead of you. Finally, head for the surface or the sea floor. If you can breach the surface they'll loose track of you. If you can reach the sea floor there should be an abundance of world objects that it will get stuck on. :)

@@stephaniecotten2650 yes. You can easily out maneuver a reaper if you can keep a good turn angle going long enough. But it takes practice to do that well and you'll likely be inches away from being grappled the entire time. Not a bad tactic if you're caught out in the open but, it's usually way better to just surface or find something for them to get stuck on. 🙂

@@stephaniecotten2650 ONE OF THEM GOT ME WHEN I WAS ON SURFACE. It was my first time playing the game, I didnt even had a Seaglider and didnt knew what killed me until later. Ugh. They scare me more than ghosts(I havent mey ghosts that much though but at least they are pretty.)

I personally pack a bunch of vortex missiles whenever I go to the Aurora early on, but the perimeter defense upgrade is definitely the best way to deal with reaper leviathans

@@shinycharizard9221 you have to look the reaper in the eyes, and drive your sea moth to the side, and if it looks like its getting too close, drive upward or downward a little bit as well.

That's why you never take your Seamoth out without a perimeter defense system. Reaper gets one hit of that, and releases you immediately. Works every time. You will feel so much safer having one. Just remember to activate it each time you get back in.

Reapers are goddamn terrifying to me because sometimes they just don't give up chasing you. You might think you've got away but then realise that it was still following you and chased you back to your base

Stay low. They typically swim in deep areas, but high up. On the floor, not only do you eliminate an angle they can attack at, but you usually aren’t spotted on the sea floor.

Even more scary is that all three predatory leviathans can climb into the textures. Imagine that the reaper did not swim out of the water column, but from the rock next to which you are swimming.

You may want to turn around to be able to see it, just don't be too late. Don't just keep swimming when it's chasing you, since Reapers are much faster than you.

One time I was in one of the broken lifepods. Grabbed a PDA and some loot, all was going well. I turn around and a ghost leviathan was RIGHT THERE staring at me as I backed into the corner trapped by the fucker. It was awful.

I don't why, but only the roars of them scared me at first, upon seeing them and having one grab my seamoth at first, all I felt was annoyance cause it took me so long to make one on my first play through. I just jumped out and watched it swim away as I repaired my car before continuing along. Also weirdly enough that reaper moved away from the wreck and into a kelp forest area near I think the jelly shrooms.

Brotip: when inside a seamoth, position your camera so that the waypoint you are going to is just on the edge of your screen and move diagonally to the relevant side and forward, it is faster than just *wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww* .
