Presenting myself and my EDC gear in the swedish woods... how could a biology / geography teacher end up in a situation like this?
Survival Bushcraft with Emelie. Part 3. Presentation in the woods
I'm just a swedish woman trying to learn the art of bushcraft and survival... As a biology / geography teacher I go from theory to practice - and it isn't always as easy as you might think ;)

It amazes me that so many young women are into nature and survival, while the young men are into video games and hanging out with the boys. You, and a few other young women, really inspire me. More young women should get out and be close to nature and survival. Thank you for being honest and making these videos.

Enjoying your videos and notice that there are different types of people who use the woods. I used to have a girl friend who worked at the Swedish consulate in Seattle Washington. A beautiful Swedish lady who had wonderful long blonde hair, a gorgeous woman, so once we decided to take her on a day trip into the woods. She was not interested in the hiking and exploring and sat in the car to paint her fingernails. Each of us to their own pursuits. Happy to see that there are some girls who like the outdoors. Keep up with your videos and thanks for them.

I love the items you have in your Go Bag and knew all you had in it except the instrument you used for going to the bathroom with. I am glad that you explained that and can understand having it in case of emergencies. You will find that you need a larger bag than that one later and you will need a better sleeping bag to sleep in if you plan to be staying outside for a longer period of time.

glad to see your wanting to learn to be self reliant , here is a few things I would add to your kit. 1) a magnesium block 2) a second water bottle with a wide mouth , 3) some jerky , 4) a ultra light sleeping bag that compresses real small , 5) a small folding shovel to burry the bodley needs

Emilie, I can only think of one last thing you could add to your kit, and that is a credit-card sized Fresnel Lens. You can get them on Ebay in multi-packs for just a few Euros. I have some in my wallet and my bug-out kit. On a sunny day, they will save you a lot of effort with fire starting with absolutely minimum kindling.

hey emelie. my suggestions about the gear would be: - no need for the multitool. its looking cool but yeah...you wont need it for bushcraft and it weights quite much. get a victorinox swisscard , tiny vic knife or tiny leatherman tool if you need tiny tools. you wont need strong pliers, and these are the only reason to carry a fullsize multitool usually - a small folding saw like a silky pocketboy 130/170 or tajima g-saw 240 is worth gold when working with wood often - if splitting wood often, a small axe like fiskars x5 or better x7 is the way additionally, you might also wanna save weight and size on the knife and use just a cheap mora knife. if you have an axe, a big, heavy knife isnt necessary the headlamp might be essential in long dark days, you should use rain/fogproof quality lights that have long battery life and are bright enough for your needs (black diamond 2016 models, zebralight, armytek, etc) have a good time, bye

Stopped in to your channel on the suggestion I got today from Ma Wu Ho. I enjoy watching people new to bushcraft learning as they go and seeing the improvement along the way. An honest representation of the process. Redundancy and multipurpose items are always great ways to keep weight down and increase positive results. Great job and keep them coming. (Perhaps it's because you are a teacher but I find it amusing that I'm going back to correct my spelling). I find it wonderful that a teacher is learning something new. Great example.

I've only just started watching your vids, but from my own experience, learning to start a fire with firesteel/ferro rod is one of the most satisfying skills I've learned to date! FUN too! :) Can't wait to see you try out your bag contents.. I will be doing an outing with my bag soon I hope! Hopefully you pick up a HIGH quality compass when the time comes... I think it's an underrated tool that really needs to be reliable if a real emergency occurs. I have a "bladder relief device" too, though I have yet to practice

Emilie as a backpacker i believe in carrying multi-purpose things and have some suggestions- Instead of using tissue paper, I dry out wet wipes that way I can wet them at a water source/spring and use them to clean my body or use them as a fire starter..Instead of matches i would get a bic lighter if it runs out of fuel you still have a way to make a spark. I would also carry a bandana to use as a wash cloth, pee rag, head cover, sweat wipe, wipe condensation from inside your shelter, collect water from the dew on vegetation if you run out of water etc. Also you need a way to purify water I would suggest a sawyer squeeze water filter and an empty 1 liter smart water bottle with the flip cap from a 23oz. smart water bottle to back flush the filter if it gets clogged. Having water is the most important in a survival situation. I admire your resolve in trying to learn and improve your bush crafting skills and enjoy watching your progress on you-tube Thank you! I'm sure you've figured out a lot since making this video, but I would say and essential for your grab bag in a country like Sweden is to have some premade tinder. a tin of fatwood shavings or birch bark kept dry, so you can get a fire fast with your ferro rod. I lived outdoors in Sweden last year so I know what it's like to need a fire fast, and so I always keep a tin of dry tinder close to my body with my ferro rod and knife. it's good to have a couple of sticks of fatwood also, as they will provide very hot kindling which will help get a real fire with even damp and frosty wood :) I'm heading back to Sweden next week and will be living out all winter and making videos. A beautiful country!

Excellent video! If you like tea I recommend Spruce or Pine needle tea if you haven’t tried it already. Just add boiling water to the crushed or chopped needles. You can also make it without crushing them but it’s not as strong. It’s very high in vitamin c and beta carotene.

Great job Emelie ! I just found your channel, and I think it's wonderful when ladies such as yourself aren't afraid to get out into the wilderness and try new things. I live in the USA in the middle of the desert so even though we are in very different environments I'm sure that a lot of the things we do along the lines of bushcraft will be very similar. I look forward to your future episodes. Now I have to watch your other videos and get caught up to the present day. New subscriber to your channel.

No reason to be nervous about how you'll do. You compare yourself to these experienced survivalists, when you're new to this! Everyone was once new to everything. We all start out learning the basics and growing from there. Everyone is on a different level in any type of thing in life, so we should never compare ourselves to anyone else! :) I've seen many of the experts on KZfaq and on TV, yet I enjoy watching you a lot, and not only because you're a cute female (duh!) but the way you do things, it's laid back and just no stress at all. :)
