Welding Cart from Bed Frames

I wanted a welding cart for my welder and had some old bed frames that were a perfect use for this. So a bit of design, cutting, grinding and welding later, a splash of paint, and I had this...
I purchased my shielding gas through Amazon. It's a brand new full 80CF C25 (25% CO2, 75% Argon) bottle. It was shipped directly to my house and was over $100 cheaper than the local gas supplier was charging.

Just getting into welding. Great first build! My neighbor just gave me a bed frame and I am looking forward to seeing what I can build with it. Bed frames are probably one of the most wasted sources for project steel. I can't remember how many of them I've thrown away myself!

I also built a welding cart out of bed rails! Mine has a 3 drawer file cabinet, 1 lg drawer to keep helmet / manuals & receipts, 2 smaller drawers for gloves, tips, wire & access., a place to hang 3-4 grinders, my lg tank (which was a 2 wheeled dolly), Also has on one side, a like 2'x2' fold down table for welding on. Came out "FANSTASTIC"!!! I would like to add a small vise on table some day. My only issue w/bed rails was trying to drill holes in them 🤔.

I was looking for a file cabinet like that to use, but could only find the standard 2 drawer variety so I decided to go super cheap and just build something with what I had.

Curious, were you able to drill holes in the bed rails? Nothing I had would drill them!

@@fjbowen3155 I did not drill any holes, but I’ve heard that they’re super difficult to drill. Need very sharp bits and will likely have to resharpen frequently if drilling many holes.

Odd that you couldnt find anyone with 75/25 in stock. If you ever end up needing a second cylinder gas cylinder source has empties with recent tests at a good price.

They had the smaller and larger tanks, just not the 80CF
