I'm considering a 100C or 150S, with earring posts like this, retipping, crown assembly, some fabrication, and want to know if the lower power units can do the job from your experience?

I would think the 150 can do anything you need to do (not sure about the 100). I’d get in touch with the folks at Sunstone-their customer service is top notch!

I have been using an Orion 100c to TRY and do the same. Im ending up with lots of carbon around my welds and pitting on my earrings. Ive tried your power settings and my posts wont stick, even with multiple welds. Any advice, thanks so much for making this video!

What is your gas setting? And are you using pre-made mountings, or simple sterling sheet? I've had issues with a couple different pre-made mountings where the weld isn't great. If that happens, I use the Orion to do a spot weld and then solder. I can't figure out what the issue is with those strange welds--shouldn't be an issue with the sterling alloy, but that's the only thing I can come up with.

to the issue of welding brass, alpacca, impossible to the zamak because they contain zinc, prevails some kind of "guilty silence" from manufacturers of these welders, although they know it. the same applies to laser welders.
