it only makes sense to design, build and use custom to fit the table you have and use. grand pa always said “measure twice cut once” double check everything before you attach it. great video, great idea and application!

I was watching the angle piece being the wrong orientation the whole time wondering to myself when it would be caught. It was like watching a train wreck, I just couldn't look away.

May be just tacking 4 corners then weld them will prevent distortion. Long weld bgings a lot of extension while the rest is "free".

Worked like a charm. Although there are better ways to fixture a square shape like that. I mean, you can print those fixtures as well, but it is easier to use. For welding 90 degree angles they have these corner fixtures, and the benefit from that is that it fixtures two sides from the work piece in a 90 degree angle with a single clamp or fixture, while you still have room to do the weld. And when you fixture each corner with a clamp like that you automatically have each corner in a 90 degree angle. And the work piece will feel like a solid piece the moment that all corners are clamped. Another option is to print extra fixtures that go on the inside of the work piece, so that each side is locked in place. That way you would not have to use a straight edge.

God video. i'll try that. How about tacking in your fixture on the outside corners. Taking it out of the fixture and putting it flat on the table and clamping down and finish the weld. Maybe that will keep the part flatter. I was about to give up on snow but then you turned it into a welding show. :)

Is the table from Harbor Freight? I saw Vulcan on your glove. I have a Vulcan tig welder that does a good job. I've had it almost a year.

Bit like assembling a popular jet aircraft, will leave it there.
