I played along at home (Not blind) and they are both equally enjoyable, I may favor the Old Elk slightly as it seems slightly more complex but admittedly the Weller was more balanced. IMHO, I would call it a tie.

Hey Jason, I agree with your review on the old elk double wheat. I thought the double wheat was very wheat forward and was a little off putting, but once I got past the initial wheat pop, I enjoyed the pour. I have had the bottle open for ~2 weeks and hopefully that note the soften as the bottle gets some air. Great review!

Intriguing matchup for sure. The Old Elk DW is one of my current faves while I’ve always thought 107 was a bit overrated. Something at the end of it is just a bit off for me. Gimme dat Old Elk! Cheers!

My local shop guy said he blinded the WFP and OE wheated whiskey pick ...both come in at very close to same proof, 115-117. Said the OE came out on top. Interested to see how that one plays out. Personally, I'd think I'd be tough to beat out the WFP

Online Weller Antique 107 is over $150.00 and Old Elk Double Wheat is over $100.00, no one sells retail.

great head to head. unfortunately Old Elk Double Wheat is not available where I am and have never seen Antique 107 for anything less than secondary market prices.

Early guess before watching...easy win for double wheat! Post watch..i was wrong LOL. For some reason I'm not a big fan of 107 but love the DW and most everything Old Elk

These are both fantastic, but aside from the proof, they’re not really comparable, in my opinion. The Old Elk whisky mash bill has wayyyy more wheat than the Weller bourbon. So the Weller is just gonna be more “complex” - and I’d also choose it if I could have only one or the other.

WA 107 is one of my favorite wheaters but I can almost never find it, let alone for anything close to MSRP. I paid too much for my last bottle, don't know what I was thinking, now I can't drink it. Have not seen that Old Elk bottling but have bought several others and liked them all.

A great nose is important as it definitely can set the palate for what it's about to experience, yet I feel like their should be a weight scale for each aspect of tasting. Maybe I'm wrong here, but does nose truly outweigh finish? I feel like palate>finish>nose is a realistic curve.

It was quick, but I saw that too. It's always interesting to see what film makers use for their liquor choices. Michters bourbon was in Jessica Jones, so marvel itself is pretty diversified.

On the face of it, the "$50" Weller takes down the $100 Old Elk - BUT - you're in Ohio. Elsewhere, the Weller 107 is usually around $100 or more IF you can find it so actually a pretty even match up. Taking the Weller all day long at msrp, but again, not possible around here. Old Elk is on the shelf, but ouch 😫 Great review as always 👏 Keep on keeping it real JC

I can’t find any Weller products for msrp. WSR sells for $80 which is insane. I’ve seen the WFP for $499 once.
