The 4A used to be worth a lot more than that. After Nathan Chen landed 6 quads in his 2018 Olympic LP and won that portion of the competition by 18 technical points over Hanyu and nearly 9 points even after PCS was added, the ISU freaked out. Nathan then went on to land 6 quads again in his Worlds 2018 LP and win the title by nearly 50 points over Uno. After that, the ISU slashed all the original base values of the quads and the triple axel to try and reduce Nathan's point potential in order to narrow the gap between him and the other skaters. That was wrong of the ISU to act against Nathan in that way. In addition, the ISU also reduced the number of quads that could be repeated in a LP from 2 to 1. That's why the quad axel isn't worth more today. Under the original base values, Nathan's scores and world records would be even bigger today. These were the original base values of the quads and triple axel in the 17-18 season versus their value now: 4A 15.0 / 12.5, 4Ltz 13.6 / 11.5, 4F 12.3 / 11.0, 4L 12.0 / 10.5, 4S 10.5 / 9.7, 4T 10.3 / 9.5, 3A 8.5 / 8.0

This list is kinda not that impressive, as obviously higher BV jumps easily rise to the top, but aren't really that nice to look at. Highest actual GOE would be the best. And not as GOE multiplied by BV as it impacts the score. Like, the actual -5 to +5 range. Some of them will likely still be overscored, but they'll generally look a lot nicer.

Totally agree. His wonky jump technique of picking in with the entire side of his skate is why he's been so inconsistent in his career. I like his style, but to he honest, the only reason he's winning now if because Nathan and Hanyu aren't skating. His inflated GOE at last year's Worlds was a joke. It will probably be the same this year. Because of his wonky technique, I'm not convinced he's even done a legitimate quad flip. To me, the first person to do a REAL quad flip was Nathan Chen.

This channel is: “we love skating” not “we love figure skating”. I remembered the TV commentator commented on Yuzuru’s gala exhibition at 2018 winter Olympic - with a single delayed Axel and a single triple Axel, Yuzuru has shown what figure skating really is. The majority of figure skating audiences like to see whole package, a program of continuous flow, not individual pieces/disjointed elements like quad jumps since these robotic quad jumps which don’t connected to the music would last very short in one’s memory. Even Shoma Uno’s coach Stephen Lambiel said: figure skating competitions should be battles to compete for beauty, not quad jumps. Looked at the number of viewers of the video for the skaters on Olympic channel- Yuzuru has much more viewers than the medalists - there is a huge gap between audience’s preferences and the corrupted ISU scoring system (which ignore artistry completely). Again, jumps are just "part of" "Figure" Skating. There are many other things in a Figure Skating programs. Someone may land fantastic "individual" jumps, but do a "so so" or mediocre job for the whole program and still got a medal. That's what happened in the past 4-5 years. People may "WOW!" upon seeing these quad jumps landed by these ice jumpers, but, most people forgot about their programs right after watching since this types of programs don't "stick" into one's memory.

One simple thing we can do to understand what's the majority people feel: remove all the jump pass from all the skaters' free program. There should be at least 3 minutes left. (Total jumping time should be less than 1 minute). For how long most people would enjoy to watch the rest 3 minutes program from a ice jumper's program? If most people think these programs are empty, boring (too many 2 feet skating, too many aimless arm waving, long loading time between jumps, motions not go with the music etc) then you know why Yuzuru is much more popular than other skaters. His program has "better overall quality" which are not reflected by ISU scores. He has strong spins (about the best I've ever seen), moves, step sequences, choreography and artistry to fill the rest 3 minutes. Others are much weaker in the rest 3 minutes - the quality of their program are not "evenly distributed". That's why Plushenko said Yuzuru is the best figure skater in one of the interview posted by Olympic channel several years back. Plushenko like Yuzuru's jumps, spins and choreography. The choreography of other skaters are not good enough to take the audience. Yuzuru is the most complete figure skater - he is good at all the elements. The quality of his programs is high, evenly distributed and can be felt by most people.

Also they really insist that other skater cheat on the score, playing down their skill or repeat again and again how Yuzu earn so much money and fans through his performance. Come on, every one on ice is wonderful. Stop these toxic behaviour and just neutrally promote the one you like is enough.

Sorry to hear that you're tired of seeing so many toxic Yuzuru's fans, skaters, coaches, commentators, choreographers, musicians, singers, ballet teachers, dancers, directors, actors, Olympic official accounts... keep saying that Yuzuru Hanyu is the best. Btw, skaters cannot cheat on the scores, they can only cheat on jump technique (wrong edges, skidding, pre-rotation, under-rotation) and it's I$U's judge$ job to cheat on the scores... and I$U vice president has admitted in latest interview that they underscored Hanyu b/c he was winning too many titles by large margins, and breaking too many world records, and they didn't want him to continue... they wanted NEW STARS on top, that's why they changed the rules and scoring system b/c it was (difficult to manipulate) GOE under +3/-3 scoring system, and later on they removed transitions and music interpretation (Yuzuru's specialty) from the PCS (in favor of NEW STARS) a clear message to Yuzuru that we will not give you +5 GOE, even if you tik all the required buIIets... and give NEW STARS +5 GOE and 97+ PCS for no difficult transitions (ina bauer, biellmann spin, hydroblade, lunge, plie, folds, spirals, squats, leaps, rolls, sandwich, sit twizzles... but only for empty jumps and crossovers... to push Yuzuru to quit and retire.
@peppor5151
@peppor5151 2 ай бұрын
@@6crossovers >they removed transitions and music interpretation Hannyu's ignorance always amazes me. transitions and music interpretation have not been removed, just merged with other items. The weight of PCS has not decreased either. Changes to the GOE have also been made along with a reduction in the base points. Nathan's advantage in high-difficulty jumps, which he was good at, has been lost, and athletes like Hanyu, who can't do high-difficulty jumps and can earn GOE with 4S and 4T, have an advantage. This is clear numerically. Hannyu is looking for an excuse for not being able to win and is fantasizing about it, but Hannyu loses because he can no longer compete with Nathan and his friends in terms of technique (this includes not only jump difficulty but also transitions).

@@6crossovers I agree. Nathan is well on his way to becoming a doctor at one of the world's best universities. Hanyu seems to have a successful idol-like business targeting elderly Japanese women. As usual, she was only able to fly 4S and 4T, and 3A combination jump is 2T instead of 3T, and it seems that it has deteriorated compared to when he was active. But his fans are ignorant about technique so it won't be a problem. It seems that Hanyu used to be obsessed with 4A, but that was just an excuse for not being able to beat Nathan. Marinin achieved 4A for the first time in history (along with a much more difficult transition than Hanyu), and Hanyu stopped mentioning 4A at all, as if Hanyu was running away.

I saw a clip of Chen's 4S at BJ and I was shocked to see how ugly it was, clearly cheated takeoff, under-rotated, very poor landing and he still got positive GOE 11.50 points, when it should be scored as 3S with negative GOE. No doubt he's the most overscored jumper in the history of figure skating.

Had to remove my positive comment about Nathan's jumps, because toxic fanyus treated it as an invitation to be hateful and nasty. Seriously, are you all *this* insecure about your favorite skater that you cannot handle seeing anything positive about his competitor? Some people in this fandom really need to grow up. Anyways, beautiful jumps by Nathan, as always, and fanyus can choke on their jealousy and bitterness.

@@Forward-Lunge. More Fun Facts: Nathan Chen has the 5th highest win rate (73%) in the history of men's figure skating. He is behind only Karl Schafer (74%), Gillis Grafstrom (78%), Ulrich Salchow (80%) and Dick Button (92%), basically the giants of the sport and the men who invented figure skating. Hanyu? He's WAY back in 14th place with a win rate of just 41%. Winning LESS than half of his international competitions, that's a LOSING record. Hanyu is the ONLY multiple Olympic gold medalist to NOT rank in the Top 10 most-winning men skaters of all time. Nathan lost just six competitions in six years with three undefeated seasons and the longest winning streak in skating history, 14 competitions. Hanyu? He NEVER had an undefeated season, and his longest winning streak was just four competitions. In fact, Hanyu never won BOTH his GP assignment competitions until the 9th year of his career, three years before he retired. Nathan successfully defended his World title twice for three consecutive wins. Hanyu? He NEVER successfully defended a World title with just two titles won three years apart. Having left skating over one year ago, Nathan still holds the World records in the SP, LP, and total score. He also holds six of the Top 10 total scores of all time, including the top three. He owns the highest scores and widest margins of victory in the history of the U.S. Nationals (58.21 points), Grand Prix Final Championships (43.87 points), and World Championships (29.11 points). He also owns the highest score in the history of the Olympics (332.60 points) with the second highest margin of victory at the Games (22.55 points), second only to Plushenko (27 points) in 2006. Hanyu? He retired holding NO world records and NO major figure skating championship titles. In fact, in the last two years of his career, Hanyu didn't win anything. Nathan is only the second man to win the Olympics as the reigning World and Grand Prix Final Champion. Evan Lysacek was the first. He is also only the 6th man to win the World Championship title at the young age of 18. Nathan is the first man to land 4 and 5 clean quads in a LP, and the only man to land 6 fully rotated quads in a LP. Aside from Jason Brown, who had no quads in his programs, Nathan was the ONLY man at the 2022 Olympics to skate clean programs with +GOE on every element and no deductions. In fact, since the inception of the Code of Points, Nathan is the ONLY man to ever skate perfectly clean programs with all +GOE at the Olympics. In his career, Nathan skated two perfectly clean programs in a single competition 6 times. Hanyu? He only accomplished it twice, and not since 2015. Nathan was also the first man to land five different types of quads in competition. Only Ilia Malinin has since accomplished it. Nathan's 5th place finish at the 2018 Olympics (297.35) was 14.14 points higher than Hanyu's 4th place finish in Beijing (283.21), and would have taken the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics. Even in losing, Nathan STILL beats Hanyu! Nathan ended his career as the 6-time, undefeated National Champion, 3-time, undefeated Grand Prix Final Champion, 3-time, undefeated World Champion, and Olympic Champion, holding ALL the world records for SP, LP, and total score, along with 6 of the Top 10 total scores of all time, AND the highest scores in the history of the U.S. Nationals, Grand Prix Final, World Championships, and the Olympics. Hanyu held NONE of that, hadn't won a competition in two years, and just...faded out. Enjoy those additional fun facts.
