Mining geologists are a totally different breed from “Research and Educational” geologists. What an enjoyable video

Lol ITA, I used to live in outback Australia and you could tell which kind of geologist you were dealing with from 100m; the car, the hat, brand of cigarette and the vocal volume. Good times.

I like this guy, you can tell he's spent a lot of time talking to miners.

Very interesting, always good to get the recollections of those who've seen this stuff first hand down. Thanks for putting these videos together - your collective series over the lat 15 months has been a real boon in these crazy times.

An excellent teacher meets an excellent teacher, and we profit from it. The mention of ruby silver was a surprise, I’d love to obtain samples. Thanks for another great video, Nick!!!

I wanted to do exploration Geology when I was in school and I ended up doing food engineering. This was a great video for my former self. The joy of the treasure hunt part of geology is pretty much the most fun a guy can have. Thank you thank you!!!!

Nick, I am fascinated with watching the Iceland volcano. Mainly because of your lecture about the Washington basalt flows. The current situation helps to visualize how that can happen!!! 🙏🙏🙏 I know off topic but wanted to share 😉🙏🥰

I see 68 likes for this video. For me this has the highest value ever. A guy who is working gold and does not go for the scientific approach at all. He knows where it is and not how it got there. Very rewarding listening. He says does not go to molybdenite down low and the gold Peter's out. Does not know if reef extends to Liberty mine at all. He says gold intrusion in early 40bp going swiftly to not from another magma source which tells me it is magmatic.

Awesome video. It's so enjoyable to hear the historical and economic side of local geology. Tom has such a commanding knowledge and a really engaging way to communicate his enthusiasm.

I had a vague idea there'd been gold mining there. Pretty darned interesting questions and explanations.. which evolved into hilarity. Who knew geology would be so mysterious, exciting, and fun?!

I used to run up to Wenatchee to pick up apples around 1996 and I remember the mine up I guess north of town.

Cool! Another field trip! Love the diagrams! It really helps when you show the peaks, along with the diagrams. Gives me a better sense of how it all goes together and what to look for! Again, thanks Nick, Jeff and especially Tom for bringing us along for this!

Mt mom and dad's property of about 110 acres is just south of Stemilt on the Malaga Slide, and I recall that someone leased their mineral rights for a couple of years while this mining operation and exploration was going on.

Good lesson, Nick. Appreciate seeing you all, again. I always enjoy watching your program and have watch several of your videos. Good luck to YOU and your students. I hope to meet you someday. I want to take a pic of a creek with sheer walls. That look like layer of Volcanic ash from Mt Baker going back many years. I have even found small pieces of petrified wood that you can almost see through and also have the growth rings.

Twice I have provided a link to the genesbmx webpage that gives a very comprehensive history of gold in the Wenatchee area and of the Cannon Mine, including pictures, sources of more information, and links to other sites on this topic. Both times the comment has been deleted very quickly. If this current comment gets deleted, then I will really be angry. I am trying to be helpful. I have no connection to genesbmx.
