I hate that everyone tried to compare him to Michael. The two are separate artist who achieved their own unique sound and look. I prefer Prince but as a teen of the 80s I loved Micheals music too.
@josebrown59612 жыл бұрын
Yes but Michael did not come anywhere near the output of Prince. I grew up listening to the Jackson 5 and love and respect them. Simply put Michael was a fine singer,dancer, and songwriter. Prince was all that and a multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Michael did write, he did not write many of the great songs that made him the “King of Pop.” (A nickname he gave himself btw) Rock With You”, “Thriller” “Off The Wall” Three of MJs biggest hits HE DID NOT WRITE! Prince wrote ALL his. Now years after both of their passing we get a constant stream of new music from Prince and a trickle from Jackson. This is like it was when they were alive, Prince cranks out new material and Michael slowly releases what he has.

I loved this video. I was 14 in 1984 and was smitten with them both. The talent at such a young age! Prince had the perfect band during this period. 84 was a great year to be young. It took me another 2 years before I saw him in concert. My girlfriend, who came to the concert with me, dumped me on the way there. So I had to stand next to her while Prince sang beautiful ones. Tough moment that ha.

Absolutely fascinating AND essential footage for the Purple Rain era! We get a snippets of the Greensboro concert! How cool is that! It appears Prince has every show filmed like this, as it looks very much like footage seen in local news stations ending segments when Prince had shows in each concert date, if not most. Very similar to the official LiVE '85 concert footage! Wearing his I Would Die 4 U cape no less here for the opener! Seemed a little looser also in performance and a slight mistake in Prince's attempts at a spin if you notice that, great footage and interviews too, love this kind of stuff! Thanks for sharing these obscure Prince vids!

Nice video, but come on with the back and forth comparisons. It was Prince and the Revolution moment and that should be only said. Michael was extraordinary as well during the Victory Tour with his brothers which is and was still a extravaganza, but again this was prince and the Revolution moment. Geesh.

@@annalishagoring I guess so. It was room for both artists and both have even during this made there mark on the music industry. Both are Legendary. Let them both live and enjoy their impact seriously.

I thought about something. Imagine for 40 years prior to 84. White Women talking about their love for Black Male Artists would've been picked apart. 84 their was two major Black Artists including the acceptable Lionel Richie. We thought America was finally getting it right. Especially after 54 when Elvis Presley broke out on the scene performing Black American music. They accepted Elvis Presley because of his color. But, the backlash Elvis Presley received were from conservative racist rejects. They couldn't take it that White Women was over the top for Black music. It wasn't just the women Elvis got. Some of the men too. The rest is history. Elvis Presley helped propel Black music into acceptance commercially. He definitely was a major contributor to the movement.

They got it wrong back then. His Mother isn't Italian. Really? He has Black Parents period. Prince is a Black man. I'm glad that Wendy said that to the confused media. The older generation didn't have to get it. I know it shocked the people that a Black Artist could get that big. It wasn't better than the Jacksons. It was just another member of the Music World doing his thing. Everyone has something to add to it. Why is Sex a bad thing. We are all here because of Sex. That was 1984. The majority were White that was commenting on him. A Black Man from North Minneapolis who worked hard and did well. These are the people who later would grow up and respect hopefully Black People. Things have evolved a bit. But as you know. January 6th 2021 tells us some weren't happy how it has evolved. But, people like Prince and Michael Jackson had another vision of the world. They achieved it. Because some of those people are still around from that era ,and they have children who they teach these lessons too. So Prince lives on and he had become greater than that time in 1984. He challenged his record company and wanted artists to own their masters, he was a revolutionary artist. That is why he is missed so much, people are seeing just how prolific he was ,even more than Michael Jackson. That doesn't mean Michael Jackson was'nt prolific. He made a major contribution to pop culture big time MJ. In fact his success made people want to pay attention to what our Royal Badness was up 2.Prince's body of work is incredible. But the ones we haven't heard in that vault is still yet to come.
