I watched this video as a newly minted grill dude at Wendy’s in 1994. First job I ever had. I remember Dave being very friendly in the vid. I got good at it. I’d have 30-40 Singles going and another 30 juniors going at the same time during rush. Each one got the “Four corner press”. I EARNED that minimum wage! Oddly enough - it was one of the most satisfying jobs I ever had. I liked seeing people enjoy their food in the dining room. That, and seeing the Super-Bar again made me crack a smile… 4 years later, I was a Marine. Haha. Good memories…

Having worked at Wendy's the meat is square for packaging reasons, Square patties fit much easier into a box than round patties. Dave simply exploited this fact and market the 'we dont cut corners' around it.

You notice that the meat seems to have a lot of water and fat in it. That is why the patties shrink and why so much pressing is encouraged. This being a training film and not an advert, they had to be honest that the grill almost immediately pools with grease, and, that you have to let a bunch of grease drip off the patty so it doesn't disintegrate the bun. its probably 60/40 beef. "These burgers are hella greasy son." drain that fat so it doesn't soak the bun" "the burgers are going to shrink as the grill gets damp" press it hard so its not the size of a postage stamp" "show up and work so you can get paid" "$7.25 that's the minimum wage" "you tripped out and you think your in here with me" "dropping acid before your shift is no way to be" "keep your head straight and don't act up" "or that boss lady will make you pee in a cup"

Wendy's replaced the grills in a lot of their stores with a new double-sided grill that presses the meat for you, and cooks in less time. Only the old Wendy's, or what they call the "old image" stores still require manually pressing meat.

This uses the classic story-within-a-story technique, just like Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew' and '1,001 Arabian Nights'. It was also surely a valuable project for the actors who participated, as it prepared them for long careers in "one of the most important jobs at Wendy's". The only thing that confuses me is why Bill didn't see a video of himself coming to work at the beginning. He must have been watching a different version. RIP SuperBar :(

continued- last part: The metal buckets containing old frosty mix is called a "re-run" and what we do is pour the re run into the machine so we don't have to "waste good frosty mix" so what u are getting is a frosty that have been out all night. it gets so bad that a nasty film develops on top of the mix and we have to skim it off so it won't clog the machine. we are basically selling you Frosties that have been out literally for about 12-15 hours over night inside of the machine. they get cleaned rarely and so do most of the things except for the fryer filters which get changed every night and the burger presses that get cleaned once a day. think twice before you eat Wendy's food

Wendy's was the best fast food chain I've worked for and they always paid more than McDonald's, Hardees, Taco Bell, Etc. When Minimum wage in 2004 was $5.15 an hour. I wish someone would upload the training video about closing. It started with a bunch of people talking in a dark ally about how to rob a Wendy's.

Wahja Ellington Who ever uploaded this video was probably lucky to have their hands on it. Many companies make their employees sign non-disclosure agreements where they have to agree not to disclose company secrets or how the company operates. I had to do this back in 1991 when I first started working for Arby's and had to sign another non-disclosure agreement before I could even get my last paycheck when I left there in 1997. That non-disclosure agreement is still in effect even today. If Wendy's makes their employees do this, then the up loader can be sued for uploading this video. Not to mention, because this is Wendy's proprietary information, it may also be protected by copyright law, and in that case, Wendy's can file a copyright infringement complaint against the up loader and have the video taken down. All of which results in a copyright strike against the up loader. Get three of those and You Tube suspends you permanently. Sure, you can come back on You Tube using a different e-mail address, but if they find out who you really are, then it's off to a federal prison cell for you for illegally accessing a protected computer network, which is a felony offense punishable by five to ten years in a federal prison cell. Don't believe me? Just ask David Kernell what happened to him.
