This is a short video of my thoughts about the Wentworth table easel of which I have been using for the past month or so. Is it any good? www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s...

As a beginner woodworker I was searching for table easel ideas for a present for my wife. This video with 81 views, 2 likes and zero comments was bloody great research. Thanks and cheers. First (couldn't resist)!

Hi Matthew, thanks for the comment and the watch :) The easel is fantastic, it's incredibly versatile and is certainly surviving the punishment that I am giving it. Cheers.

I bought one today and it's very good and sturdy. There was a couple of cons in that I have heavy thick boards and when at the 30 degree angle it's on the move. Also larger canvases with a middle bar move about when they're used landscape. Absolutely rock solid though when the boards are upright. The 30 degree problems easily solved though by either using a lighter board or jamming something in between for heavier ones. Great paintings by the way.

Thank you so much! I just ordered that one. :)

Hi Jkn, I'm glad you found the video useful, they are great little easels if you don't have much space for a proper setup and I hope you are enjoying your new easel :)

Thanks for the thorough review - that's a really nice table easel. I tend to buy my art supplies from Jackson's so this is for my wishlist. Currently it's not in stock but I hope it will be soon.

I bought mine 15 years back give or take for $25.00 still strong and I have had no problem with it but like it’s been said it is not light. 🥰

very few are designed to work at 90deg for drawing and then 30deg for watercolor. this is the closest compromise although CLEARLY 30deg its not able to stand more pressure on it. Need a rod at the back to support at 30deg.
@WatercolourPassion9 ай бұрын
I mainly use mine for oil which is of course 90 degrees but for watercolour I do have a large lead weight which helps the angle but I can use it without it falling if the pressure is light, all easels have their foibles but I still love this one 👍

Your paintings are actually very very good. I just can't understand why you don't have more followers. I subscribed by the way.

I bought this easel because I have a bad back and shoulder. I love to sit and paint, and I have a hard time lifting my arm high. I can position it over the edge of a table, so I don't need to lift my arm too high. I also bought two heavy ankle weights to counterbalance it if it feels unstable over the table's edge.
@WatercolourPassion7 ай бұрын
Hi, yes, having it on the edge of a table and even lowering the bottom 'arm' a bit so the paper is not too high is a great advantage. It's generally stable enough that I don't need any weights on it but I love it, I'm predominately an oil painter and use the easel mostly for that medium and can still secure quite large canvases easily, these easels are well worth the money 🙏🏻

Hi, Definitely get it if it's on sale, you won't regret it. I have had a few easels in my time but this is the best :)

I got the Jackson’s one but have never been able to use it for watercolour because anything but a steep angle and the screws at the sides slip with even light pressure on it and the thing collapses flat. Drives me mad. If it would only stay at the angle I put it it would be amazing.

I have one and it's good. The con is that you cant do 8x10s. It doesnt retract to that small.

Hi Patick, I just have a thin wooden board which is actually the backing board from a picture frame and just tape the paper onto it for small pictures which works great :)

I realize This may be a rather old video but I just found it...great product review...I have small area I like to paint in even though I have a larger space in my house..so my question is..what is the small wood table you are showing this easel on. I need something I can sit at rather than stand, yet could take out to my garden area. I have an outdoor set up but am not fond of it...it is too light and a bit wobbly..it us made for watercolor.
@WatercolourPassion3 жыл бұрын
Hi Victoria, glad you liked the video and the small table you refer to is simply an ancient and very small wooden table that is really far too small to be useful so I bolted the top of an old computer table onto it which fitted the base size of the easel perfectly.

Thank you for this excellent review. I know this is a few years old, so I hope you don't mind another super late question about this easel-when the bottom canvas support bar is lowered, is it still possible to tilt the easel completely vertical?
@WatercolourPassion2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes you can, every angle is accessible.

@@WatercolourPassion Thank you so much! That's a great relief to know. Gonna shop for this soon, really appreciate your taking the time to answer.

I was wondering if the board lays flat if you have it extended past the table... You had it up higher in your video, I'm kinda new to this so maybe I don't know how it works. It doesn't look like it would be flat if the board is at its lowest point.. thank you
@AFAskygoddess7 ай бұрын
It will lay flat. It's a great easel.

Great review! Where do you store your pallet?
@WatercolourPassion3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, I just store it on its side in the corner as it literally takes up no room at all plus because it has all the materials stored in its drawer it means I don't have bits and bobs lying around making the place look untidy, a win all round in my opinion :)

Hi, Is easel must for watercolor painting ?
@WatercolourPassion3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would say yes as it has everything a watercolourisrt needs but especially if you don't have much room for a standard easel then this is brilliant. I use mine all the time.
