Werner Herzog is a world-renowned German film director, screenwriter, author, actor and opera director. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
He has produced, written and directed more than sixty feature and documentary films and published more than a dozen books.
His latest film, Family Romance LLC, is a tragiccomedy shot like a documentary, which tells the story of a Tokyo company that offers stand-ins for absent family and admirers.
Herzog talks to Krishnan about drawing the lines between fact and fiction, history repeating itself and why he doesn't watch many films.

I could listen to Werner talk about anything. He has such a beautiful, almost lyrical way of speaking, mixed with a critical, analytical mind.

I spent 5 amazing days studying with Maestro Herzog in 2011 at his Rogue Film School. A truly enlightening experience that I will never forget. Feels like yesterday.

I am a nobody. 63 years old. You could say a failure. But I don't think so. I am an artist. I paint. But I paint for myself. Everday I work . I go through the process of creation. I start I STOP. I LOOK and I learn. For myself. I'm not famous to anyone accept myself. I dream and use my imagination .But when that painting is finished and put away I am another person. I play guitar for 45 years now. I write songs going through the same process. It ends the same. I am a nobody. No one sees my work. But to me it is my life.. I have many lives. These are just two

“...he modifies facts to such a degree that they resemble truth more than reality. It’s a wonderful sentence. I really like him for that.” I stumbled into this interview on accident and l’m instantly hooked on Herzog. He seems to articulate into words, so well, what is going through my mind when I’m high.

Truth is important because there is only one truth/reality, and our quest to grasp it and share it with each other is the foundation of trust, cooperative activity, justice, fairness, peace, sanity and stability. On the other hand, there are infinite false ideas about events and fake representations of the world - ignorance, delusion and lies - and these lead to mistrust, fear, injustice, conflict and confusion... This is why an authentic, humble and imperfect quest for truth is important for everyone of us.

I just recently watched the first episode of the Mandolorian, (yes, I know, I'm behind!) I am affected by Mysphonia, and have a hard time hearing unusual speech cadences & soft, almost whispering voices. It is very uncomfortable for me. Mr Herzog's voice and speech pattern in this episode really triggered my Mysphonia. I had to research to see if this was his true voice. I'm so amazed and pleased that he his true voice is quite wonderful. I truly admire that Mr Herzog is such a convincing actor, and I wonder if he came up with that odd voice/speech on his own or was he directed to speak that way?
