WE Sail to the Clearest Waters in the Tuamotus | Episode 252

2 ай бұрынOn this weeks episode of WE|Sail, we set sail and hop along to the next Tuamotu island and have one of the best sails in a long time.
There are 78 islands that make up the Tuamotus archipelago, and we have visited around a dozen of them, all offering a similar experience, but Tahanea particularly has some of the clearest waters in the world, certainly in our experience... We're not exactly sure why this one differs from the others, maybe the number of passes it has, which allows more flow of open ocean water coming into the lagoon, or maybe even the directional position of the passes, but it was important for us to come back to Tahanea so we could escape in the waters below.
As this is our final season in French Polynesia we discussed the option of either sailing and exploring to new islands or going back to the ones we have been to before. It was unanimous decision that we wanted to revisit Tahanea AND DIVE!!!

Wow thank you so much for this comment that means a lot! Not sure what we are doing wrong or what isn’t working for our channel, posting regularly and constantly, quality content and story, and the occasional bikini shot doesn’t seem to break the algorithm. Still trying to sort that all out

Excellent filming and editing. I do love this part of the world. And you have clearly built a great friendship with Delos. Zatara say they don't like the sailing bit, just the destinations. In this case that destination is fab whether you enjoyed getting there or not.

As someone who used to have saltwater aquariums, I can safely say your aquarium is much better than anything I've ever seen. What healthy reefs there, very cool to see. Blue Face Angle is one of my favs.

P. imperator or Emperor Angel. I had salt and reef tanks for many years. The Emperor angel. and the Flame angels are still my favorites. Of the Angels. Angels are so amazing, their difference from juvenile to adult transition is incredible.

Folding props and a super smooth bottom… two reasons you slide through the water like a greased eel. Hmmm… that doesn’t sound as poetic as I’d hoped. I was thinking about how much it pains you to motor anywhere, when that whole conversation came up. Sooo glad that it turned into a sailing trip (albeit a slower one.) Your investments of time and money into your underwater videography has paid massive dividends. Mind you, your choice of locations doesn’t hurt. Keep the props folded! ( and the bottoms clean… but mom always told you that) ❤

❤ Warren had a great point. Some truck drivers love trucking but they hate being away from home. I wanted to be Over The Road and gone and that's where was for 20 years. I loved waking up in a different place everyday. I was and had been saving up to buy a 36'ft or bigger sailboat and move aboard but health issues took me off the road and and off the water. 💔 I grew up on boats in the 70s. My dad was a commercial fisherman plus he salvaged various vessels and we lived in them. Oh, I'm new to this channel, but I've been watching sailing videos since Lin and Larry Pardee first appeared on VHS! ❤ Liked / Subscribed!

Sharks found their photo-op. And so did all of the reef fish, even an eel. Have you or any of the other cruisers you know ever been contacted by oceanography departments of universities asking you to take pics of anything in particular, or asking you for the footage that did not make your cut? Or to ask you to take water temperature? I sense you would be a great source for them, from study of reefs to fish to sharks. And for you, maybe they would provide funds for your work for them. Maybe some schools may offer grants. In the meantime, re-stuff your tanks and get back in the water. :¬) Webhead USA

Warren, I have a question bugging me about myself, you and Erica Might be able to answer it. I grew up in a small town in the mountains of Colorado, now I want to do the same as you. Live on a sailboat and SAIL. Since you two also grew up in Colorado, WHAT/HOW did you two get your passion for sailing? We don't have a lot of options for blue water sailing! Could be a video idea???

Possibly! Every place we have been to, some have more sharks that show up more than others. We do our best in making sure we don’t feed the sharks off the back of the boat. This particular spot I was so amazed at how many were all around us!

No we were feeding the sharks! It was crazy how many were there though! So beautiful. Blacktip reef sharks generally have a very puppy dog behavior. If it were another kind I’d be a little more resistant to jumping in
