Wesco Van Cleef Engineer Boot - Horween Essex Veg Tan

I’ve been wanting to try an engineer boot for some time. After watching a pair on eBay for over a month I finally decided to take the plunge.
These appear to be a the original “Van Cleef Engineer boot” sold by Standard & Strange in 2017 (collaboration with Wesco). They are made with Horween Essex natural veg tan leather.

Me too. Been curious about engineer boots for a while. Was always weary about sizing of pull-ons in general. Thankfully this pair fits well.

Beautiful boots!! Would you mind measuring how tall your heel is? From bottom edge of heel cap to top edge midsole? Aesthetically that’s the size heel I’m hoping for and wanted to request it on my franks order. Love your videos! Did you ever get the straightened out for the 55 last? I know you mentioned 1/2 size down from brannock didn’t fit

beautiful color, are those horweens equivalent of the w&c english bridle tan?

Well Bridle is a specific kind of leather. Very stiff. Used for horse saddles and what not. Horween’s Essex is a softer natural leather. It’s color is incredible.

@@EDHBlvd have you ever seen my Wesco boots? I have these Warrens or Axebreakers I got from ebay and I still can't figure out what leather it is.. i think its a veg tan horsehide.. idk,, I just can't seem to tell for the life of me.. the guy didn't know what they were.. and I can't seem to tell if they're English Bridle or what.. not sure if you're any good with that kind of think.. maybe you could help me figure out what they are,, they look similar to yours..

heel slip isnt as bad in other engineer models. something bout wescos heel cup doesnt lock me in like other boots do

That’s not what I’m told by other Engineer owners. Their response to heel slip is “welcome to engineer boots”. The heel slip isn’t awful. Just not as secure as a lace up.

@@EDHBlvd my misterlous are wild slippery and its not due to shoe size, i have 2 pairs that cups my heel better and i dont have that issue on my shell cordovan flat heads or my john lofgrens

@@jimli420interesting. This is my first Engineer boot. It’s definitely a different fit than my lace up boots. The MP last is so much different. Being more pointy and flat.
