+dk kd - This match was a tie anyway. But, The Georgetown match you mentioned was actually won by West Indies (technically) when Keith Arthurton bowled the last ball with 4 runs req and Steve Wauch only managed 2 runs. But, Due to dirty interference, The match was declared a tie.

Well said. I agree (although I am Pakistani) I remember us at the time feeling disappointed. I think, today, with different circumstances, the match referee or ICC may have awarded the match and series to Pakistan. I think at that time, for a good few of years before this, West Indies, while still a top team, were not as invincible as in previous years. There was a lot of worry and concern that the Windies were heading towards a slow decline. They were still good but not as dominant as they once were. Saw a recent Richie Richardson interview where he said there was concern about this within a few years of Viv Richards becoming captain . In 1988, Pakistan, on their previous tour almost beat the WI at home. The series was drawn 1-1 but many argue, in an era of non neutral upmires, Pakistan were unlucky with a lot of decisions going against them. My point is, seeing the fans react like this, I think they knew Windies dominance was coming to and end and it was hard to take, especially if your team has been the best, head and shoulders above all for 2 decades. Its a hard pill to swallow. You can see similar agitation from Brazil and Argentina football fans when those teams went into decline in previous years. The Windies did go into decline from 1995/96 Sad. However, they won the test series against Pakistan comfortably 2-0 after the odi series.

I don't follow cricket as passionately now or overly supportive (I support England and Pakistan but lost the emotion especially after the match fixing in 1999 and England were so poor before 2000) but enjoy a good game.
