EPIDOSE 15
The solo motorcycle adventure continues through breathtaking Mongolia, the riders paradise. Get some work done on the pannier racks in Olgiy and also get some money stolen from my wallet at the house where I was invited to stay as a guest. Past Khovd and Urdgol we get to the lakes Durgun Nuur and Khar Nuur. The dunes are a solo motorcycle rider dream since there was no more road. Had to figure out the route all alone and gained some invaluable offroad riding experience. Find a Mongolian yurt and a family draws me a map of a route that I can follow to Durvuljin. This is the kind of motorcycle solo travel that I expected in the vast open landscapes of Mongolia. This is why we do it!
Enjoy this short motorcycle ride documentary in Mongolia put together with the video footage that I recorded back in 2014.

My name is Pedro Mota and back in 2014 I left the Netherlands on a beautiful Honda Transalp dual sport motorbike on a trip to the east end of Russia in Vladivostok. On the way there we would take a big detour through the Middle East, Central Asia and Mongolia. Little did I know back then that this would evolve into a years long motorbike travel further taking me through Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the American continent.

Your channel is a gold mine of content for those aspiring to moto trave! I admire the courage it takes to travel in a country one knows little of. Sorry about having your money stolen in Mongolia! I think you said it well ; life experiences. I found your situation in the desert to be slightly humorous...riding around with 1 bottle of water searching for the road. I think you made the best of it. What an adventure Mongolia must have been!

Just an old dog here. Man it does my heart good to see someone getting out and going about this wonderful world we have. It may be getting hard for me to make extended saddle time happen anymore, so it is really good, I mean really good to see places I didn’t get to go and to see someone with the same spirit I still have. Kudos man. Do you have a Patreon?

Ha the mission was to get it all in 20min, fat chance. The place is just pure magic. Also that day by the lake had to be done justice. One of those days that defines you as a rider and you'll never forget.

Do you occasionally carry a novel along with you to read in your down time? If so, let me recommend a novel called Forgotten Road by Randall Arthur. It’s a faith-based novel, but the last half of the book is filled with awesome motorcycle adventures. It’s well written and definitely worth the read. I think you can probably order an e-reader version. The book is receiving 4.5 stars on Amazon. Oh…and thanks for sharing your own adventures via video!

Hey Pedro mate! The more episodes I watch the deeper I get into some kind of spiritual journey! :D Did you feel something like that or any different (as a person) at the end of this journey? (loosing weight doesn't count :D )

Oh for sure man, there have been moments where you're so grounded in the moment that you can almost see/feel behind "reality". It's nice to hear you have that experience because I do try to convey some of those feelings through these videos. As for change I personally think that doesn't really happen. You always end up being the same person but somewhere else, the good and the bad. But it does put you face to face with yourself sometimes if you're open to it, shows you who you are. And only a few years later did I actually understand what I saw of myself and why, it's weird. These videos have been quite therapeutic actually, seeing myself during some moments that I wasn't too happy with myself, letting it go. Maybe that was one of the reasons that it took me so long to make these, because it was too personal.

As I told you earlier seeing your episodes takes me with you riding and that might be because I get the idea you're trying to put into the production of these episodes, yes, so congrats for creating these and thank you for sharing these personal moments as they can be insightful to who's watching as well. Can't wait for the next one! :)

Did you have any maps? Or just OsmAnd?
@iPedroMota
@iPedroMota 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah osm but it wasn't helping with where I wanted to go. Had a few images of maps which I grabbed from the internet. Also screenshotted a few aerial pics of the east side of the lake though once out there sense of proportion was lost a bit. I even used the phone compass a few times. The route of the second half of the video isn't on any online maps..

did you carry extra water/gas? How was your MPG on that A80? This section looks very risky; running out of fuel, breakdown, crash, getting lost and you in big trouble. I had seen people use sack full of water bottles to carry spare gas/water.. With regards to getting mugged I suppose it can happen in any country; it is better to split and hold it locked in different places. Oh well you can't win them all

I actually talk a lot about the things you mention but had to cut a lot to keep it "short". Had a 1.5l bottle of 92 to mix with the bad stuff, only available in bigger towns on main roads. Before getting to the lake I hoped to stop a car and siphon some fuel which I did ha. Could only do about 200km on a full tank of e80 and was doing some serious offroading. When I found the yurt with the people I was 5km short from my turn around point to go back. Had only one bottle of water, that was the riskiest part. Looking back this was actually one of my craziest days out there though also one of the best. As for stolen money I was very at ease sinds the middle east. You lose your place in heaven if you steal from a guest there. Normally I spread the money around in different places.
