First time (for me, at least) the host reveals the right response straight away even the contestant crossed it out. And Ken does it in the perfect timing to heat things up in such a tournament!!!

My thoughts exactly! With Ken and the production team knowing how much experience all the players have and given the nature of the tournament, I bet they're more comfortable and willing to do things a little differently for the sake of dramatic effect.

Intensity! Great, unpredictable game. Ken’s responses to the contestant’s questions is so marvelous and fun. He relaxes them as he does his audience.

Matt bet the entire game on the fact that James freaking Holzhauer wouldn't get it right. Quite a gutsy strategy.

I thought about that but you could also think of it as "if I know it, James is going to know it", making your only win path if neither of you know it.

Wow! I suream patting myself on the back right now! Can't believe I got it correct(not gonna pretend I actually knew the answer. sure, I guessed, but hey, it still counts). More than the type of government, the name Sam was a big clue for me. Haiti came to mind straight away.

Yes, the two best choices were Haiti and Nicaragua, both of which were occupied at about the same time. Tough question. But Nicaragua had only one president assassinated, and that was when I was a little kid, while Haiti has had at least four. Finally, I thought the name was a clue. Sam didn't sound like the family name of any president of a Spanish-speaking nation. So, I based my correct guess on that. Too bad for James. I always tell my students, if you're really not sure, stick with your first guess. If you get a brainstorm, of course, change the answer.

My guess for this Final Jeopardy Clue would have been 1 of the following 3. 1: Haiti 2: Nicaragua 3: Costa Rica

Poor James he suffered the big loss. I’m extremely worried he’ll get eliminated if his final score is very low or 0. Tomorrow he might not make it the fame

It made sense in the long run. Even if Matt got it wrong, he guaranteed himself at least 1 point by finishing in second place. James' all in bet instead of giving him 3 points wound up giving him 0.

Small wager didn’t seem like a terrible idea. Matt doing so here would’ve forced James to bet more than 1,000 AND be correct. Knowing James, the first part was easy, goes without saying. Second part, not so much…during Masters, Final Jeopardy was answered correctly 42% of the time, so it was most likely that both would miss by random chance - therefore, Matt wagered to come out on top in case that happened (which it did)

I don’t know why it bugs me, but it does; how both new hosts of Jeopardy refer to the dollars that contestants wager, win or lose, as points.

I do believe it's a tournament or competition to see who becomes a Jeopardy Master. They're using totals to determine points.

Yeah, they're calling it points in Masters because it's actually points in this case, as opposed to dollar values. The only cash being won is the tournament winnings, and I think being a distinct contained event outside of the main show allows them to get away with it, as opposed to the ToC et al. which I think still keeps dollar values (do they get those winnings though?). The GOAT Tournament also used points.

There are guaranteed minimums for 2nd and 3rd in regular TOC finals but they’re high enough that they’re rarely exceeded
