I bought an X750 in the fall of 2021. Absolutely love that thing!! Comfortable and easy to use. Took a couple hours to get used to the power steering as it does respond slower. But once you do, you'll wonder how you ever did without it! But that RIO button is a pain in the ass. You can get around that easy enough with a clothes pin.

Fantastic job on your John Deere videos! I have a 6.3-acre horse farm with about 4.5 acres of grass. I have considered the 1025R but that machine is out of my price range at this time. Do you know the price to add on the rear PTO to this vehicle? Also, would you feel comfortable attaching a post hole auger? Finally, is the X758 series worth the extra $?
@WesternEquipment

Thank you for watching the videos and I hope they have been helpful to you! For your questions: on the cost for the PTO, this would be a question for your local dealership and same with the post hole digger. I will say that I do think it is way worth it to go with the X758, especially when you are going to be doing more than mowing with the machine.

@@WesternEquipment I think the yellow deck would not only look better also but I think it would also be harder to see in the dark. I know it sounds crazy but there have been times where I have mowed into around 10pm just to get done as long as the grass didn't start to get wet. For me the yellow is easier to see and line up in the dark than green. Guess you could use reflective tape 😅. That being said the green is an interesting change after all these years but thinking back to the round fender 110s, still missing the yellow.

For a small yard I chose a x500 series over the x700 series. Does a liquid cooled x700 series engine last that much longer than an air cooled x500 series engine?
@jimmanthe2442
@jimmanthe2442 Жыл бұрын
In general a water cooled engine will last 50% to 100% longer than an air cooled engine because of more efficient cooling of the engine. This means where an X3xx or an X5xx series lawn tractor last about 1,000 hrs an X7xx will last 1,500 to 2,000 hrs. The X7xx series also is more comfortable riding because of reduced engine vibration , larger tires and a long wheelbase.
@ciphercode2298
@ciphercode2298 Жыл бұрын
A diesel engine would certainly last 10-12k hours whereas the gas would last about 1/2 that. That being said,itd take most people 20+ years to wear one out. Theres certainly nothin wrong with the gas engine,they're top notch.

I would like to know what the ideal is behind having plastic hoods on these John Deere's when metal is much more durable and longer-lasting is that the ideal behind plastic Hood it does not have anything to do with the aerodynamics or the weight you're going to get so many hours per gallon of fuel that depends on what you use in the machine for again thank you for your knowledge and time of making these videos very interesting
@JoshsGreenGarage
@JoshsGreenGarage Жыл бұрын
Plastic hood and fender deck likely is to keep the machine weight down for safety regulations, not fuel efficiency. From everything I have seen that is the reason the X7 has no ROPS, and why there is no X759… don’t have to deal with dents as well!
@WesternEquipment
@WesternEquipment Жыл бұрын
The two biggest reasons are to reduce dents and paint issues as well as reducing heat that the engine produces. Metal traps in more heat than the plastic does.
@geraldharris6277
@geraldharris6277 Жыл бұрын
That's a poor excuse for safety reasons and to keep the weight down at the tractor I really have a dent in metal where I can pound it back out and smooth it instead of being plastic breaking cracking and big trunks took it out I can show you pictures of my old John Deere gt275 with plastic Hood and I know sooner or later this will happen to my x580 John Deere reason why I bought it because of the engine in the tranny or transaxle I just don't appreciate plastic
@JoshsGreenGarage
@JoshsGreenGarage Жыл бұрын
@@geraldharris6277 It isn't a safety feature, it is likely to keep the machine under a safety threshold, like I mentioned, for a ROPS... I don't know of too many people who want a garden tractor with a roll bar... Additionally, it seems the plastics have come a long way as technology has gotten better from the times of the GT275. That is at a minimum 25 year old tractor by now, so of course the thin plastic on them isn't what it is now. I haven't seen too many current generation machines at least from 2012 or so up used wise that have cracked hoods, unless they were just severely abused. But who intentionally beats on a hood?

If the cost of each is the same, which is the better unit - 1025R or the X754? Assume the workload requirements are the same.
@WesternEquipment
@WesternEquipment Жыл бұрын
Hi Brett. I think main thing to decide if you need front loader or front attachment. The 1025R will have more weight to handle a little heavier work but more compaction on your yard and garden than the X754 if that matters. The X754 will be more maneuverable in tighter spots and turn tighter if you have trees.
@LivingCommonSense
@LivingCommonSense Жыл бұрын
I've got a 1025r w/mid mount mower that mows great. In 2wd mode, turning sharply doesn't damage the yard at all. It probably doesn't turn as sharply as the x754 which would make the 754 a better mower. The 1025r sits up tall and feels more tippy on steep inclines and I use my troy-bilt rider for that. Otherwise, whatever attachments you need should probably weigh heavily on your decision.
@YMF1891
@YMF1891 Жыл бұрын
If you were to upgrade the X754 to have a rear PTO and 3 pt arms it would likely cost more than a stock 1025R. I mow with my 1025 and it does compact the grass a bit, but it is a very capable machine with the front loader and rear 3 pt attachments. All comes down to how you plan to use the machine. Look into the Versa turf tires from Carlisle.

thought I would add my $0.02..I have a John Deere 425 liquid cooled from the 1990s with the Kawasaki 20 hp engine -- since then the number of models has bloated since it appears my 425 is most similar to the 700 series today (both in terms of cost and features -- a driveshaft connecting the deck plus a hydraulic snow blade). Anyway it is now bit the dust and I am debating buying a new engine and starting its second life...with a 60-inch deck these things will go the distance well beyond twenty years. Very expensive but the liquid-cooled will outlast an air-cooled by far...plus the larger tractor is much more functional..had I had the diesel it would still be running.

At that price point, you can get 5 or 6 Cub Cadet 2500 or 3000 series machines! There better built, have proper tractor transmissions and transaxle setups that are shaft driven like there bigger farm tractor counterparts. Twin C-Channel frames made of 11 and 9 gauge steel. Horizontal shaft Kohler Command series (best air cooled small engine produced today), Kawasaki FD series, and Briggs And Stratton Vanguard series commercial V-Twin engines rated for 2000+ hours of service. All cast iron transaxle on the 2500 series or cast and aluminum depending on the model on the 3000s. Sleeve hitch for the 2500 and 3000s and a cat 0 and limited cat 1 3 point for the 3000 series. Various attachments available. And there transmissions are stronger than the equivalent Deere. 2500 series = X500 series, 3000 series = X700 series.

Yes, this is true. The 5 standing for diesel is only in the X7 series machines.

They have a good tractor, mower deck, not so much . All 4 corners are fastened to the tractor . Any uneven lawns, this deck will scalp the grass . Where the back of a Simplicity mower deck rides on rollers and rides the uneven lawn .

Not if the deck is set up how the manual describes. I've never had issues with a Deere scalping (or really any mower that had the deck set up correctly).

As long as your anti-scalping wheels are set up correctly you shouldn’t have any issues with scalping.

My 748X 54” deck has 5 rollers on the deck? 3 front and 2 rear. Not sure what you are talking about.

The worst design for all riding mowers is the SIDE discharge. It doesn't make sense, move the discharge under the seat between the two rear wheels like a bush hog discharge. That way you can mow against fences and borders on both sides of the mower. This would also help with grass catcher on the back of riding mowers.

I totally understand that, but the hang up is that a rear discharge deck does not disperse clippings evenly.

@@WesternEquipment False. The rear discharge has the same exhaust size. Please never engineer a mower.

@@dammitbobby283..I never had a problem. Just use the side without the discharge against fences . A rear discharge absolutely performs worse in wet or tall grass . It can leave windrows also . But JD does have a rear discharge deck .
