Glad I ran across your video. I couldn’t find KZfaqrs who have covered the Tri-Fuel generator from Westinghouse. I got my Westinghouse 9500 Tri-Fuel generator on 11/20/2023, and it's still in the box. After reviewing your video, I plan on opening mine up right after Thanksgiving. Thanks for making your video straight to the point.

Thanks for the content. I just ordered the WGen9500TFc from Sams club. I couldn’t pass up $849 plus tax it was $350 off from $1199.

It ran about 8hours on a grill bottle no load breaking it in and then I ran it with a 4500 watt water heater for an hour and still had juice left in the bottle.

I purchased this same unit and got less than 5 hours on it when it stopped making electricity. Home Depot would not accept a return because it had gas in it - to run it of course - even though I drained it prior to taking it back. Westinghouse support has been excellent and is replacing it under warranty. Taking a month due to supply issues but I should have it in a few days. What caused this! It has been suggested that when connecting to my home breaker box with an interlock connection that we should change the neutral from the existing BONDED Neutral to a FLOATING Neutral. My previous Firman generator operated flawlessly with my setup. There is very little information on YouTUbe about this but there are a few folks saying that is what we should do. It is mentioned in the manual for the WGen 10500. Anyone else have any issues like this and experience?

The home will have a neutral and ground bond in the panel somewhere because its required to have 1 bonding point and no more. That way any returning current can find a way back to the power source if neutral gets broken. When you plug a bonded generator into a house with its own bond, current will see 2 paths so its like having 2 neutral wires. Current will split at the home bond and return to the generator on ground and neutral at the same time. The GFCI outlets on the generator will detect and trip and power to 240V outlet will be disconnected. They are usually fed with 1 leg of 120V from each of the GFCI outlets on the load side. Breaking the generator bond will fix that.

I plugged a 100 foot extension cord into the outlet and plugged a heater in for the load and it didn’t work.

I have this gen and connected it to my house for the first time today, all went well, but for some reason I have one ceiling fan light fixture that the light flickers on and off when the generator is running and the light switch is off. If I turn the light on the light stays on, but with the light switch off the light flickers on and off. Its strange. Works as it should on utility power.

Yeah generator power is never as clean as utility so solid state lights sometimes do that.

These AC generators often run a few hertz above 60 especially under light load and this can upset some appliances. I had a similar problem with my Generac and resolved it by adjusting the engine speed governor to a lower speed resulting in an AC frequency slightly above 60 hertz (60.5 Hz).

I had that issue but my lights operated off a WiFi dimmer switch. I did an update to the firmware on the switch and that corrected it.

Do you use the choke? Will you show another video with a load added please?

The choke is automatic. I will add a load video in my next maintenance run.
