At least for me, this performance is extremely emotional. Not only because of how good they are, but the WL guys have told in an interview that it was really hard for Shane (the first guy who sings in the song) to perform because it was the first show since both his parents passed away. If you pay close attention, you can see he turns around a few times because he was containing his tears and the other guys were checking on him (that’s why Nicky only hugged him at the end). Mark (the one whose voice you love) said that he was checking out if he needed to step in in case Shane couldn’t keep performing the song. Shane told that, after exiting the stage, he cried and the guys supported him. This song was sung by WL at the funerals of their parents (Nicky’s and Kian’s fathers and Shane’s parents) that’s why he gets so emotional specifically during this song. The sound does sound kinda strange in my headphones too but it could be because, due to restrictions, there were less ppl than usual and there was echo. I always thought it was the video sound though. Actually, both Westlife and Josh Groban covered this song. The original version is by a duo called Secret Garden. I’ve never heard Josh Groban’s version but I bet his is good too. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷!

I disagree for the first time with most you said actually. As I told you before this was done in December last year at Ulster Hall in Belfast, only around 60 ppl were admitted due to the pandemic. The echo is from the sound in that hall and to me it brings enormous feeling to this song and I get goosebumps. Josh Groban's version is most famous but it's not his song, it's a song by Norwegian act Secret Garden. Perhaps you'd resonate more with the video version of this song but I wanted you to hear Westlife live, how they sound now.

If you watch some interviews Shane says that this was very a difficult for him as he realized that this was the 1st time Westlife had sung and his parent weren't there and they wouldn't hear him/them again.. I don't know how he got through but did he ever.. So this very special to them all.. 💖

The group secret garden are the original singers of this song and wrote it. Josh Groban sang it in 2004 then westlife in 2005.

I think you need to hear the studio version of this, plus the official video, it will make you cry, it moves me every time. I've actually not heard the original Josh Groban version so I can't compare to that. I don't think the audio on this video is very good at all and I don't think this portrays the quality of the singing. As I said I've not heard the original, but does it include the Celtic vibes? I'm not sure if will, and I think this is what adds to what makes the Westlife version of this song special and unique to them.

Actually, Westlife was the 2nd group to do it and before Josh recorded his version. It was originally performed by "Secret Garden" first and then Westlife and then Josh and then Celtic Woman. Mark Feehily is the one that you said sounds like Josh

The lads did really good as both Kian and Nicky lost their dads a couple of years ago and then Shane lost both parents close together.. So this is still not the easiest to perform.. You should listen to the studio one and you will see a difference even in other concers.. 🐦

Josh Groban is not the original. It's a Secret Garden song with original vocals by Johnny Logan. Johnny was removed due to his link with Eurovision and Brian Kennedy was given the lead vocals on Secret Gardens album. I love the Westlife version better than Josh Groban's as he sounds too operatic for my taste. I don't know the Secret Garden original but Westlife's was definitely before Josh's. It's best watched with the official video as that is fantastic and very emotional. Shane and Mark are both great but I actually prefer Shane as he is less warbly / operatic sounding than Mark.

I've never heard anybody lie about Westlife like you did. Shane has that low base that you are talking about. Josh groban can never match Shane's emotion . Never.

This was a bad video choice to make a reaction. Shane was not well. He had lost his parent. Nobody can sing this song like Shane. NOBODY. Even Josh Groban. I don't care who says what. No one can. I've heard lots of versions from diffrent singers. None can sing it like Shane. And I've heard live for 23 yrars. He has an emotion they just don't have. You have to be born with it, you can't get training for that.
