Today I'm testing and reviewing a couple of wet weather gear items - the USGI poncho and the Outdoor Research Revel Shell Mitts. It's always a great idea to gear test our wet weather items before going out on any extended hike or backpacking trips.

Beautiful. I have the Snugpak Patrol Poncho. It is shaped to go over the backpack. I love it. I do have the exact same one you used there too. It is also fine, I just don’t use it with a backpack.

Ya, the poncho was OK with my pack. But it seems every time I bent over, it creeped up and didn't cover so well. A hiking partner might help keep it covered. It's very similar to one I had when I was in the military.

I'm currently using the OR Versaliner Sensor Gloves and the shells for them work really well but those mit shells look a bit more robust.

These mitts are beefier than my last pair... and I like that they come sealed. The combo of liner gloves that work on my phone and these mitts are nice for shoulder seasons, especially. Both very light, warm, and not bulky in the pack.
