I have a kubota L3560 DT it has a shuttle transmission with a clutch. The WG24 works great but a little clutch feathering is necessary without a HST transmission or a very slow creep gear. I put my FEL in float position and curl back and forth to avoid slipping the clutch to much. Then reset the tractor and repeat. the average 20" pine stump takes me about 15 min from 6" above to 6" below grade. It works good for me and so far the teeth have held up great after 40 or so stumps. Its not as fast as some grinders out there but at this price point its hard to beat and having it ready whenever I have the time to grind a few is worth any inconvenience of not having a hydraulic head. Especially since I have 500 or so stumps waiting.. I didn't see much info on using this stump grinder with a manual type transmission so I thought I would post my experience. It weighs around 450lbs and looks/feels solid with grease zerks where needed

What is the HP requirement? It seems obvious that a hydrostat transmission is a must for this grinder (slipping a manual trans clutch on every pass isn't a good idea). That's definitely a well engineered piece of equipment.

Hi, 20-45HP at the PTO is recommended . The WG24 stump grinder will work well on your Hydro static tractor with the PTO shaft operating at 540 RPM. The WG24 is also compatible with a Mechaincal live two-stage clutch. Please check our website for more details or contact us toll free at 1-855-476-6455

Beautiful attachment and grinder! Love your videos. You look to have overcome the extreme vibrations and hopping by using the tension of the tractor pulling the cutter against the stump to keep it smooth. Seems to work better than a swinging 3pt mounted unit would. What is the standoff from the rear shroud to the cutting wheel if getting up against trees or fence lines? Also - about how long do the carbides last when getting to full grinding depth in sandy/clay/loam soil? THANKS for the video.

Hi Canokie, Thanks for your comments. The distance from the face of the flywheel (including the teeth) to the back of the stump grinder is about 6". Therefore, you would want to have at least 6" between the stump and any objects directly behind the stump to effectively grind. If you're just grinding into sandy/clam/loam, the life expectancy of the carbide teeth would be quite good - I would guess over 20-30 stumps before you will need to sharpen them. Grinding in gravel areas will yield much less tooth life and possibly chip the teeth meaning they would need replacing. We sell replacement teeth in packs of 6 which are quite inexpensive though.

Can you use this grinder if my tractor has 66 hp, the specs on the grinder say up to 50. Why does it have a limit.

Hi Bryan, If you put too much power into the stump grinder it could cause damage to the unit. It was designed for this amount of HP. It's more of a caution as it may not be covered under warranty. Please contact our Tech department 1-855-476-6455 to discuss. Also, the HP we reference is at the PTO, not the overall.

Hello. I have a Kubota B3200 compact tractor with 23 hp at the pto. I am looking to do some sidework next year, maybe 10 to 15 jobs a month. Would my tractor be able to handle the load at the pto?

Hi Dilbert, 20-45 HP at the PTO is recommended. It appears that your tractor is also hydrostatic which is compatible. If you can check on our website to see compatibility www.woodlandmills.com or give us a call to discuss 1-855-476-6455
