It’s been four years since the COVID-19 outbreak led to a rise in remote work. Now, even though the public health crisis has diminished, the work from home trend shows no signs of slowing, pushing downtown office vacancies higher.

Who wants to risk their lives in the Loop for a job. There needs to be more accountability for the parents, & youth doing the crime. It's all over the city, & the Mayor states the crime has gone down, who is he trying to fool.

Plus public transport is awful, gas is expensive, parking is expensive if you prefer to drive. It just doesn’t make sense to work in office anymore.

It's the end of an ERA folks, we need to move on. I remember being 9-10 years old and seeing my father get up and travel to the loop and made his way to the Episcopal Church of Chicago downtown. 20 years later in 2014 while working at large firm, I got to experience it myself and will never look back. RIP dad.

I've been working from home since 2014 and never plan to return to an office. You can put in all the amenities, but I want to be home with my dog and gym nearby. I like spending money in my neighorhood.

I lived downtown during the 80s. Had a ball! The restaurants. The movies. The shopping. The clubs. The green spaces/parks. Back then, it was a much safer place. Now, I avoid downtown like the plague. The area is no longer safe and all the office renovations in the world aren't going to change that!

The Loop is horrible now. The entire City of Chicago is horrible now. And it's not ever coming back to what it once was. Of course downtown is emptying out. It's over taxed, overpriced, unsafe. I used to work at The Chicago Tribune at The Tribune Tower and The Freedom Center. The Wrigley Building. The Sun Times. I used to work at State and Adams. I had good paying jobs and made a good living in that city. It was beautiful at one time. More jobs than you could shake a stick at. It was the then Mayor of Chicago that made the difference. It was Mayor Richard M. Daley that made that city........"The City That Works". Just like his Dad before him. This has very little to do with work at home jobs and very much to do with failed leaders and mismanagement. Failed policies. Three failed mayors and one destroyed city later we have what we have. Residents and businesses alike are leaving Chicago in droves. As long as there are Mayors like the ones we've had no one will come back. The city is run by a bunch of inept fools. My once beautiful city is in ruins. I had to leave too.

PARKING!!!! Should only have 2pay from 9-5Mon-Sat. Everywhere else including private lots should be free after 5-9. That would decrease a huge burden of stress coming dwntwn. Not only dwntwn but the city everywhere. Even the lakefront. Paying a Parking tax and having to deal with tickets just to enjoy the city is @big F* U by the city!!!

God, how much hatred there is for the city here. Yeah Chicago could become a car dependent suburbs like I'm sure all yous love living in, but what happens when you all become elderly and can't drive while you still live in a caldersac miles from any transit or shops. American suburbs suck and always will. We are a country that depends on cars way too much. I think the city should be revitalized and kick all these greedy financial institutions out as Wall Street is one of the biggest evils ever invented in this country. They bankrupt the average joe while raking in millions. Working from home is another way for introverts to stay to themselves. Work from home jobs are dying and being replaced by scam jobs.
