If you get in contact with an Inuit society and they allow you to come along for a hunt, I'm sure you could make it happen granted you have enough money and are willing to fly to Alaska. Indigenous Whalers have a quota they cannot exceed so you would have to be aware of any seasonal concerns.

Visit Nome Alaska and make friends with Inupiaq hunters.

Theres nothing wrong with enjoying the hunt or sport activity of it anyway if done legally and ethically but almost all north American hunting now days is for resources (meat/fur) as well as a healthy enjoyable activity.
