Come along with me for a fantastic charity resale store. Such a pleasure to shop the deals and steals. Unique items and rare antiques please in this modern and spacious setting. See their online shop and pick-up locally. From Belleek to Royal Copenhagen, they have beautiful gifts and collectibles. A hand carved 1910 organ was donated by a third generation family member. Can you imagine the mansion that it once graced? A vintage ViewMaster shows glimpses of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Coronation. Stamp collections, Mid-Century glass, and a Murano bowl are just some of the stunning pieces offered. Support your local resale to benefit the environment and your community. This charity resale serves the area with proceeds from their fabulous store. WHAM resold and recycled 3000 TONS of goods last year!

13.36 Hair Receivers :D Dating from Victorian times through the early 1950s, hair receivers were a fixture on the dressing tables of most fashionable ladies. They were designed to hold hair that was removed from hairbrushes after vigorous brushing, and they resemble vanity jars or powder jars, but with the distinctive feature of having a finger sized opening hole in the center of the lid. The comb would be run through the bristles of the hairbrush and the resultant hair accumulation would be coiled around a finger and then inserted into the opening of the hair receiver. The uses of the hair was varied, but most frequently it was used in the creation of RATTS (aka rats) These were sheer hair nets that were stuffed full of the collected hair and then sewn shut. The ladies’ hairstyles of that time were fashionable buns and other "big hair" arrangements. So ratts provided a "stuffing" to enhance these hairstyles! In addition to this use for the hair kept in hair receivers, ladies also used the collected hair for a variety of other things, including as stuffing in pin cushions, for which the oiled and scented hair of that time was well suited, as it lubricated the pins, making them easier to use. Small other cushions and pillows were also frequently stuffed with hair instead of feathers. Hair receivers are made from a variety of materials including glass, metal, wood and ceramics, with the most notable ones usually being made from porcelain. They were produced in a range of styles, some flat, some footed, some square and most round in shape. :D information from the internet :D

This video was such a nice treat with my coffee! Lady Mary Beth would you at some point please address the possibility that Crystal can cause lead poisoning? Every time you give a gift of Crystal someone pops up and says, “ Don’t put food or drink in that! You’ll get lead poisoning!” I mean are these people storing food overnight? Causing the glass to break down and leach? I just don’t get it. How could they possibly sell crystal glasses that would give someone lead poisoning? This issue needs to be cleared up once and for all. I love your program, not only is it a treat for the eyes but it is very informative.

Found a medium sized Raspberry bowl from Orrefors earlier this week. The crystal is so clear and beautiful but unfortunately I don't have space for it as I just recently bought The Ministers by Philippe Starck for Alessi in 1996. And to be honest my style at home is more towards Alessi and the 80's/90's

Hi Mary Beth from Australia. Absolutely loved this video. You need to frequent this store more, such amazing items. I loved that you showed us the jewellery, that is my favourite go to, when I'm Op Shopping (Thrifting). I also loved that you highlighted the James Avery, thank you for that. After watching your video, I checked ebay for JA and I found the Angel and it had the Avery necklace with it for $70 AUD. I didn't even have to think about buying it. Finding Avery in Australia is hard, as he's not known here. Well done on another wonderful thrifting expedition and for taking us with you. Lots of love from Lyn in Australia. xx
