Worth noting, that breed of cat is the same as mine, russian blue. It's a breed that is very commonly highly affectionate, gentle and trusting. To me, that makes it worse, knowing the cat would have probably otherwise been very loving towards these boys.

@@DirtyGeorge certain animals *are* bred for tempraments. It's why, for instance, certain herding dogs will have a natural instinct to herd/drag their owners around even as pets/ non-working dogs.

@@DirtyGeorge it's more that when pet breeds are developed, specific behaviors are selected for on top of the physical traits, or are otherwise made more common. That's why you can tell whether you're hearing a siamese cat or not, or why prospective corgi owners are warned about corgis nipping at their kids' ankles.

I honestly wouldn't even call it CHAOTIC, it's just true neutral. Existing only to satisfy its own directive. You can't call them chaotic, because they do sometimes try to enforce actual societal laws or traditions , like calling the police when they suspect something illegal; whereas chaotic would completely reject those standards and traditions in favour of their own.

I don't know much about 4chan but I read on other forums that (around 2005-2010) there would ne on b/ some videos of really bad animal abuse, like pups getting stepped on or foxes having their skin "peeled off", was this false ? Sorry, it must sound very naive but that really saddens me at the Time and I've already seen awful things down to pets on Ig (would be cool if 4chan could avenge them) so I don't think it would be that surreal to see that on 4chan (sorry for bad english)

@@niii5949 That was old shock value trying to prove to people how "hardcore" the new people are, and they would mostly repost videos from gore sites. Nearly any time someone would actually partake in animal cruelty there would be some serious backlash.

@@pewpin1039 This but also both. The distinction between existing pastas and OC was always very palpable on 4ch. Shock content has been always used as a filter AND any new ones were tracked and obsessed over to find the culprits. This was not the only case of cat abuser hunts, one of the other famous ones led to Luka Magnotta after all. The only exception to that rule was Zippo Cat - that sh*t was wiped off the face of the internet just to make a point basically with anyone that shared it being made a personal target to deter anyone else from doing this or sharing it. Worked well for a while. Olga of Kiev style.

one time when i was closing my door my cat ran in and i accidentally pushed her tummy with the door a bit and she just squeezed through the door and door frame and jumped on my bed but i still felt so bad and i started to cry i don't know how anybody could purposely hurt a cat. my cats are like my babies how could they hurt theirs?! fucking freaks

That brief description of the cat abuse made me physically ill. I'm so thankful the folks at 4Chan take their vigilantism seriously. Finding that cat would have been on the bottom of any law enforcement's list of things to do and 4Chan is amazing at pinpointing locations and people. I'm a longtime fan and have had this video pop up occasionally in my watch list but could never bring myself to click it before. I think you did a tasteful and informative cover of this case. I really wish more had been done legally against these monsters. I really hope that AMA was actualy that stupid guy and that the cats weren't actually hurt.

If what he described in the AMA is not hurting the cat then idk what to say. The fact that he "didn't beat the cat and just acted it out" does not mean the cat wasn't hurt. Try shouting at a rabbit and see what happens. I mean, please don't. But it'd probably die from stress even though you didn't even touch it. Abuse doesn't have to involve physical torture.

Holy shit that was my friends son! Oh my god this is insane. I saw the movie don't fuck with cats on netflix or something but never watched it because I'm not a fan of hurting anything. Irony is that I lived in lawton when I was in the military... But still don't like abuse. Whatever. I had met that kid several times and he always had emotional issues. Lashing out and breaking shit. The parents just ignored his behavior or didn't care. I assumed he was abused and neglected. Not an excuse. His father was the drummer in a short lived band that played at the railhead once and we sucked so bad that kay never had us back. This is so fucked up and I'm getting chills just watching this shit. Holy hell!

I think what happened with that was a lot of people who didn’t know enough about why things were done reasoned that it must be like neutering. As a kid who grew up with three declawed cats in an age before people realized that de-clawing was cruel, that’s how I understood it for years, especially because back then I thought that animals were nurtured to prevent the unwanted behavior of having kittens, as I didn’t understand things like heat and the actual issues that can occur when cats have kittens without the owner being able to properly prepare or research before hand. I know that a lot of people would stop doing this if they knew how harmful it was.

My family did that in 2004. You can say we should have known better, but a veterinarian was fully willing to do it and honestly, we just honestly believed it was normal. I was like, 10. So I was still a kid and my mom is almost old enough to be a boomer and fully did not understand how to google and research on her own. But we were both felt very guilty and sorry for my little guy. I still regret it. But he’s not longer with us and we’ll never do that or advise anyone to again.

Pretty much. I was on the board the night the initial posts went up, got angry, couldn't sleep, went onto the IRC channels set up to investigate. Some called it Operation Dustice as well. Sure it was about helping the cats, but they had some lulz with the pizzas, wreathes and craigslist hookers. If I remember right, someone also hired a hearse, or at least claimed they did. It was amazing how the community came together and was able to work a way that helped and also cause as much chaos as possible. Not like that now, they couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery.

I once had a super wholesome interaction with a random dude on 8ch /b/. It started with him saying he was depressed, so I asked why. Apparently, his cat had passed away somewhat recently & he was having a hard time, being alone. I was there for emotional support & tried to help him through it as best I could. Some trolls stopped by, but eventually got bored, so it left just us in the thread. I suggested he could get another cat & that could help. The conversation tapered off for a bit & ended nicely. Then a bit later, he updated the thread(or made a new one, can't remember 100%) & posted a pic of a cute kitty from a local shelter. He thanked the "anon" who was there for him & said he'd be "adopting this particular kitty tomorrow", because of me. :) That was so sweet... Still think about that guy sometimes. I hope him & his new kitty are happy. :') This was a couple of years ago, so I bet they're best friends, now. That was probably one of the best, most wholesome interactions I've ever had on 8ch.

I remember having a chat with someone on r9k where he was upset over his family getting annoyed at him for various selfish shit. They guilted him and made him feel like shit. I stepped in and tried to help, and he ended up feeling better. Only time I've had a heartwarming experience.
