No, insurance companies are that bad everywhere . It’s just that the US is the only liberal democracy without socialized healthcare. Russia, India, China they all have the same horror stories as the US when it comes to insurance companies deeming surgeries after life changing accidents as “unnecessary”.

Russian here. My left arm was "paralysed" (dead, denervated) after an accident in 2009, no sensation from the shoulder down. Was ready to have it cut off from day 0. Spent a $100k on an useless highly invasive operation in Germany. Took me like 3-5 years of doctor surfing to actually realise it will never be functional again. Got tired of having to carry this stupid whip around with me all the time. Decided to have it cut off but needed a doctor's recommendation to do that which no doctor was brave enough to give probly fearing law suits. Last year said screw it, went to India, $5k-boom, it's gone, took the the doctor 5 minutes to see what's up. A happy camper, like those 3 legged HPCA rescues. The hospital was top class btw, just like the german one (manipal hospital) hope this helps anyone.

If you demanded your feet be amputated (I'm going to assume you have nothing wrong with you) you'd get laughed at or directed to the nearest psychiatrist. Why insure a procedure that isnt neccessary? He was on Medicaid/Medicare. Only if the procedure was deemed NECESSARY would it be paid for. And it wasn't considered necessary, because although his quality of life wasn't the best, he could still get around using a wheel chair. That's what Medicaid/Medicare cover: the absolute basics.

Yeah uhhhhh medicare in this country is focused primarily on doing the bare minimum requirements to keep someone alive. Anything beyond that, like QOL fixes, is usually reserved for more premium insurance or just not done at all. American medical care is really behind the rest of the world and heavily corporatized.

@@ElysetheEevee Its absolutely not, it will be the same as watching paint dry then flake off unless you have some dopamine hit off lookin at corpses staring back at you from across the room. It's a biochemical disorder with a genetic component with early exposure experiences that make it so someone can't appreciate a living beauty thus necrophilia status is gained. ie; you want to get it on with dead bodies.

It amuses me that there are laws preventing people like us selling body parts, however, a business can so long as government grants permission to sell our body parts that we must surrender to them free of charge. My great grandmother is on Medicade or CoverCA (one or the other), either way she had to have a limb amputation on her right leg, and she isn't deemed eligible for prosthetics. Obviously we can't pay for it so she has to live in a elder-care home. Shit is crazy but true man, smfh
