Maya ZBrush 3DsMax and of course Photoshop for textures and stuff, are pretty much all the softwares they use in most of their games

Of course photoshop for texturing?? Well thats wrong... How about substance tools... ... THATS texturing tools for 3d assets, clearly not photoshop. And they are using it, clearly visible in overwatch! Quixel mixer would be another texturing tool

the last video that gave goosebumps was a BFA video. the rest that came out - cartoons for mobile games. this blizzard, which is mentioned in this video, is no longer there

A lot of game companies uses propriety game engines. Talking about Blizzard, it would be interesting if they didn't use a propriety game engine. Not the other way round.

Wrong! MAYA is not a must have animation tool to make video games. Clearly you can see later in the video someone is animation a character using 3ds MAX.

Expecting people to learn expensive software to get a job at Blizzard is the main reason they have such a shitty culture. Most people will never use that software unless 1) they're privileged (and therefore probably have the entitled attitude that comes with it), 2) they're in a class (which also ties into being privileged for some people), 3) they save up for a long time (which sometimes is pointless because some require expensive subscriptions just to use, as in you're paying for a license, not even for the software as-is), 4) they get a job where the job uses it, or 5) they make enough from making/selling 3d models or making films they made using free software to justify buying the good software to make more, or 5) they work for a company that has the nice software. So expectation for anyone to have any experience to get an entry level job, that requires them to spend more than $1000 total (spread out over any number of years), aside from costs of education is complete bullshit. And this pretty much only happens in art jobs, which is why the starving artist trope is so real. Even engineers mostly have never actually done any real-world engineering that wasn't part of the classroom, before they become an entry level engineer. But artists are expected to basically know everything already. There are very few tasks that require almost no knowledge of the software, such as lighting or hard surface modelling, which are basically the same in every 3d software, aside from the keyboard shortcuts.

Ultimately, you still need a good portfolio that unifies and understands the type of art/knowledge and skills a company is looking for whether it be Blizzard or an Indie studio. There is no reason someone can't Learn with Blender and learn the base fundamentals of 3D while saving up cash for other software if they want to enter the industry. Switch and study hard for a few weeks since the core fundamentals of 3D will carry over and the rest is just learning the software. Learning and adapting to new software on the market is part of the deal with 3D art, not some "shitty culture." Plus, if someone was "privileged" to be in school and they were not wasting their resources and time, especially with all the already available knowledge. then that's a massive advantage due to the student licenses, and possible internships. Maya is stupid as shit since it's used in most production pipelines so it can't be easily switched out or maybe they're being paid to use Maya. However, it is still pretty stupid to pretend that people follow software guidelines and never pirate software. The Barriers aren't as drastic as you say and never were drastic 9 months ago.

That is the thing when people ask , “is blender good enough or do I need to know another 3d package?” The question you have to ask is: if blizzard or whatever company is asking for maya and you work in blender are you going to get past HR? I would like to believe the employer wil go by your portfolio , regardless of your software if your portfolio is good then you wil be considered. However what is more likely is HR , the filtering software will see that maya isn’t on your resume and boom your resume is instantly deleted and no one ever sees your portfolio that you worked so hard on. Honestly I hope I am wrong , but again the job of HR is to filter out the resume to weed down the applicants, so if c company ask for maya and you only have blender, idk if you are getting past HR

@@hubiguschti5867 I’ll check out their job openings for the artist role at Disney , Ubisoft etc… and I certainly hope you are correct for a great majority of art roles often request maya as opposed to blender.
